Lasix for lowering blood pressure

Anyone using/used lasix (or other diuretic) to flush the fluids from the body and lower blood presure. How much? How long (on cycle)?

Lasix is a strong diuretic. It will help lower bp. I would start out with around 40mg a day and go from there. Be prepared for some cramping and tiredness as it also gets rid of a lot of vitimans and nutrients that you need.

I take lasix daily and 40mg seems like a lot for a beginner. I would think half that or less. You may want to make sure your potassium intake is proper as well.

BTW I certainly would recommend lower sodium, lower carb, lose weight, exercise, etc prior to committing to any diurectic type product. You kidneys will thank you.

Agreed.

How much do you take per day?

Did your doctor prescribe it? If not don't just start taking lasix. Go to your doctor and have him prescribe you something. If you need a diuretic you will likely be started on something a little more forgiving than lasix. Probably Dyazide or a generic version of it.

Another thing to consider is maybe a diuretic isnt what you need to lower your bp. Maybe you just need an ace inhibitor or ARB. See a doc if your BP is consistently high. Playing around with lasix can be very dangerous as the others here have pointed out. If you take too much or dont eat right your electrolytes like potassium and sodium can get off then you get the cramps and could have heart trouble. Remember that thost electrolytes are needed for muscle contraction and your heart is a muscle. So if those get off you can actually go into cardiac arrest. YOud probably start having heart arrhythmias prior to that.
