HEY PROMUSCLE GUYS,

WHAT DIFFERENT METHODS DO YOU GUYS USE THE LAST WEEK OF PREP....WATER, CARBING UP, DEPLETING, ECT,ECT...

I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED MANY, MANY TIMES BEFORE...BUT, WITH THE MIDWEST IRONMAN JUST 3 WEEKS AWAY...IM THINKING ON WHAT I WANT TO TRY THIS TIME...I KINDA HAVE A GENERAL IDEA ON WHAT I WANT TO DO, BUT HAVING DIFFERENT IDEA'S IS ALWAYS GOOD TO KNOW...

I usualy dont do to much of the traditional deplete load stuff because when i do I look like shit onstage and look 10lbs heaver and dryer the next day. This is the basis of what I will be doing for the jr's this june
*leg training stops 10 days out
*I train the full upper body workouts mon tues wed 40% intensity
*kepp the sme diet through thu, and manipulate the sodium levels through food mostly br rice and chicken(low sodium)
* drink 50% more water on tues thru friday night, it will scare you but you will wake up dry as a bone sat morn
*no diaretics
*I start to increase carbs friday night not drastically but I will have bout double what I normally would
* sat morn I have a very large breakfast with pretty much whatever I want, but maybe 2-3 oz water
* keep some rescess peanut butter cups on hand and eat those if I am flat if not I just lay down put the feet up and stay off the gluts and hams and wait to be called out

in my opinion diaretics are way over used, I look my best when I am full of water and carbs and low sodium
 
i love this topic...

yes, many many discussions/threads on this one. I've come to realize there is no exact science behind coming in dry.

I think what most bb's dont realize is that electrolytes play a huge part in the fullness of muscles. So when sodium and potassium is messed with the last few days, it's an easy way to get really flat. Also messing with electrolytes will effect your body's hormones such as Aldosterone. I won't get into all that as i'm sure most of you know already. But the main thing i'm emphasizing is that cutting sodium out is what makes mosts bb's flatten out...not the lack of carbs or water. Throw diuretics into that equation and now you can really f things up!!

Now i'm no expert in all this but from my what ive read and researched on line, I believe the "Shitloading" technique a lot of guys are using these days is the best method. yeah, not much science behind it and not very structured as far as grams and milligrams....but there is a lot of validity behind it. Basically taking everything out that makes the body hold water (carbs, sodium, water itself)....then throw all that "shit" back in with fats, but without all the water! Get the water out, then fill the muscles (only) back up!! Now as far as nailing the timing....i think that guy Skip is the expert on it.

km2000- Now on your carbs on friday night are they clean carbs ? (rice, potatoes ,rice cakes) or is it shitloading foods ?

Im actully thinking of doing something about the same as you...Nothing to drastic, im in good shape (probably the best shape ever) and Im going to be already depleted from dieting for 7 months...My carbs are low now, so going any lower would just flatten me out some more or eat my muscles...I also, increase my water the last week (up to 2 1/2 to 3 gallons a day) and dont cut it until friday night...My deal is that I want to find that spot where im grainy and dry, with being full to...I can get either one or the other but not both...This past week I messed with my carbs a bit and seem to look really good the day after eating a good amount of carbs in just one day...but on the second day I started to spill in my lower abs and actully diding look as full as the day before...

ya bro, all clean carbs. I will use br rice, sweet potatoes with br. sugar, and some chicken. you kind of have to gauge it. With my body I will burn through a decent amount of food in my sleep befor the show so I actually take in a little more than I think I should to make sure I am filling out by the morn. The biggest thing I have found is to not go skimpy on the water friday, wait till you are all through eating the clean food to cut the water out. I drink it like normal all day and night usually 3 gallons on friday I was 240-245 on stage in the spring and won the shawn ray super heavy and overall with this protocal , it is funny to see peoples faces at weigh ins when you are chugging water. its even funnier when they see your face when you win the show!

thanks so much for the nice words, I am going to do the jr. nats in june and then the usa's in july. I am having very good sucess with my offseason program I am staying in great shape and currently weighing 270lbs. the foal is to step on stage about 250-255 but we will see what happens.
 
KM2000- YEAH, IM THINKING OF THE JR.NATS IN JUNE TO...MY OFFSEASON WILL BE SHORTER ,BUT I THINK WITH ME STAYING LEAN...PLUS, BEING UNDER MORE PRESSURE WITH A SHORT OFFSEASON...I CAN COME IN A FEW POUNDS HEAVIER....
