Hi all... Ok, so I’m new to this. Just started training in August. My friend
Pesty4077 said I should post pix and ask for feedback. I still have some growing to do, but want to see if the experts see any potential. I’m not training for a specific competition. I am, however, training as if I were going to compete on April 25 just to give myself a specific goal and see how lean I can get by then. I’m thinking I probably won’t be ready for competition for another 12 months – if I’m even ready then. Ya’ll decide… Oh, by the way, I’m 47. Thanks for any advice, criticism, “you should work on this or that”… etc.

47? are you sure?!
you look great for 47! i'm no expert on judging but looks to me like there's a lot of potential.

good luck!

ok...

I'm 47 this August.
So I see lots of good elements great arms and back.
Nice and lean... good lines.
you are on the right track.
Whatcha doin for cardio?
Whatcha diet like on macro ratios?

since august huh? you look great.

How much did you weigh to start with ?

Overall looks pretty good right now...Im sure you can get leaner and you will...So just keep up on the diet and cardio, hit those weights and im sure it will all come around...best of luck---Also, your about 2-3 months away from competing, in a show...I think you should aim for a small show and go from there...

Thanks for the props. Being so new, I'm easily intimidated here.

For cardio, I'm running about 3 miles 3-4 times a week and/or riding my bike 15-20 miles a couple of times a week.

My diet is what I'm really unsure about. Right now, it's 40/40/20 and about 1500 calories. Around the first part of April I planned to up the protein and increase the cardio. My biggest fear is losing muscle.

Hi Chris -

I weighed 131 about 3 weeks ago, Right now, I'm 124. There's a mobile hydro Body Fat unit that will be here March 30 so I'll know where I am then. I suspect I'm around 20% right now. What range should I be aiming for at my age?

I plan on going to a couple of shows in April as a spectator so I can see first hand what it's all about. I'm really looking forward to it. Wish I would have gotten the bug earlier on.

Thanks so much for your feedback.

I agree with Chris, Keep hitting the weights and getting leaner. You are progressing nicely.

Doing great! Your legs and calves are awesome, great shape! Personally I'd like to see a little more cap on your shoulders. :)
Working on your posing will be a tremendous benefit to you as you have muscle you just need to show it to it's maximum potential. :) Good luck amb7470!

it looks like you right on track for your deadline. upper back is IMo definately super lean right now. you actually holding less fat and are in much better condition than 90% of the 25yr olds i see at the gym every day. arm development is great!

I'm impressed!

Just started training in August? You are looking great and have a ton of potential. I agree with what Chris and others have said, Keep doing what you are doing and give it time. Weights, cardio and diet will get you there. Think of it as a lifestyle change :) You just need to get leaner. The muscle is there and as you diet down it will show even more big time! Great job!

Wow!
You have muscular legs! Your back is very well defined. Your biceps look pretty good too!

If your 47, it wouldn't take that much to get yourself in competetion shape. I'm assuming you will be doing figure over 40 tall class.

You will have to work on shoulders chest and mid section. If you get a coach or trainer you could get in competetive shape pretty quickly!

Just my 2 cents.

Hi...

I too was impressed...I think you have potential, and you go girl!....You should be happy with yourself....looks like you do train, and have an athletic background...I'm curious, did you play sports?
Glad to have you posting.

You look fantastic! You look right on schedule, if you would do a show, I think that you would do well, not only that it would really make you focus more, I tried getting in shape without doing a show, but the pressure of competition made me push a little harder.

Good luck and keep it up/

bow chicka bow wow...

someone call the fire department, this women is on FIRE!!!

:) you look great... u should be SUPER proud! lynx and marlyin are aweomse too... im sure they will love to help u. they are pretty nice... for being girls :p

You'll be stage ready wayyyyy before 12 months! Your back is already almost ripped and you display a great muscularity in the arms and legs dpt.

Just keep on doing what obviously works and probably makes a lot of 25 y.o. girls envious! :) :p

first off mad respect for kicking ass at 47! bravo!

you need to put on a lil more muscle, cause by the time you diet off the stubborn fat from your lower abs and glutes/ham tie in you are going to look very very thin, not that its a bad thing but filling out with a few lean lbs of muscle will give the overall apperance a better/healthier look when dieted down to a "fairly" lean bodyfat (don't want to be too lean and hard for figure these days) you want nicely seperated shapely muscles (if that makes sense..LOL) im by far no figure expert and I would really get one of the arizona gals perspective on things first. If my wife looks that good at 47 im going to be a very very happy man :D

if and when you compete are you going to do the masters class??

I def. think you should keep grinding and go for it, like someone said above start with a small local show to get your feet wet then go from there.

edited!
ok after going back and taking a real real hard look at your pics, you really don't need that much more muscle as i first thought, just keep dieting and see where you end up, diet nice and slow and take it one step at a time, pick a show you have more than enough time to get ready for and go for it.

Wow, thanks so much everyone for all the awesome feedback and encouragement. I'll definitely keep working hard to build more in my shoulders and lose the fat. Does anyone know what body fat range I should be aiming for at my age for figure? My biggest fear is losing muscle and ending up looking kinda stringy. Again, I really appreciate all your help and advice. Sounds like I need to start looking for a suit and some posing clinics.:)

is it creepy if you're old enough to be my mom and I think you're hot?

It's easy to see that you've been working hard!

Don't be intimidated by anyone here. :)

Everyone is in the same boat working hard, doing their best to make improvements. You are looking very good. Women's upper bodies get lean first ..as you know...and if you stay with it the rest comes all the way in.

In my opinion if you keep your protein high, and do long walks at a low intensity for cardio...you won't lose much muscle. Just go for it.
