I saw a brief video with Mark Bell. Watched about 2 minutes then switched off. He’s now using a sugar diet which is basically as it sounds. Table sugar sour patch kids honey etc moderate protein and very low fat. I was more interested in the comments of people saying how great this diet is going to be etc.
No wonder the fitness industry is such a mess and screwed up. I honestly think social media is the worst thing to happen to bodybuilding
 
I mean the macros sound like a modern bodybuilding diet, correct me if I'm wrong. I wouldn't do that for health reasons though, but for performance and looks, yeah ...

I'm too lazy to watch his video on it. Why don't they eat rice instead of processed shit? Wouldn't the result be the same?


... just listening to his vid while typing this and he calls it "empowering" because he can now eat bbq sauce and gummy worms xD
 
It's a shame...I saw that but didn't bother to click. I used to listen to him about carnivore, then he seems like he went off that and said add carbs. Nothing wrong with changing views but after seeing this video...makes me question if anything he has ever posted is click bait. The worst is some guy thomas de laur...worst clickbait shit I've even seen literally spams videos about every single approach you could think of basically the Dr. Mike of diet. When it comes to nutritional I trust Justin Harris, Stan effferding...not sure who else on YouTube is worth watching?

Lyle McDonald recently started back up. The guy every fitness influence loves to hate because he only tells the truth and doesn't jump on every latest craze like this
 
@Skip This would be a good topic for you to field! I didn't see the video that was referred to, so I don't know what aspect Mark Bell is talking about using sugar. Skip has a lot of experience in this area!!

He says “Moderate” protein for him around 150g a day
High carb 400-800g a day from fruit and sugar not many starches (spoon fulls of table sugar lol)
Low trace fats

Seems bizarre to me why can’t people just eat a normal balanced diet
 
in terms of macros ok it’s totally workable, from a standpoint of health, inflammation and feeling good I would obviously avoid this. Especially if your worried about plague build up in the arteries
 
The main source of "sugar" in the diet is fruit, yes they have sour patch kids and other yummies but the base of it is honey and fruit.

It's a DIET! it works and it works by the law of thermodynamics like all diets work by.

The worst i ever felt was a two years ago. I was on my holiday in Mallorca for two weeks in all inclusive hotel. My appetite tanked due to the heat and my carbs sources were - ice cream sorbets and some fruits. After returning i had so many hypogylcemia incidents that it was not funny at all - for weeks.
 
It sounds like something that would be used with low dose DNP or another uncoupler to keep liver glycogen stores from being completely depleted. I don't know if that is a factor, didn't watch the vid.

Probably the same reason people don't just do dc training or a simple bro split and progress and get big...gotta reinvent the wheel and find the secret short cuts..

Getting strong on ohp and throwing in some dumbell lateral raises for big shoulders? Can't be that simple. Gotta do lu raises like Dr. Blob, or cuffed behind the back lateral cable raises at waist height like Menno and the kid that got beat up by Mike van wyick...gotta be secrets..."optimal " "science " "the literature says..."

I'm as guilty of buying into the bullshit on ig and youtube.com as anyone. When we click, they profit, so they put out more bullshit. We reinforce them so they continue

Didn’t watch the video because the title sounds dumb.

But I could understand sugar around workouts for an endogenous insulin spike

But sugar all day everyday? Regardless of how healthy the source of it is—I just don’t see it being ideal

Do you do low carb normally? Or just the carbs you had on vacay didn’t sit right with you?
