That’s definitely not considered high.
Thus. As long as I have been on forums 1g per lb has been considered low.
That’s definitely not considered high.
When im done with my show I will probably give this diet an offseason go at least for a while, I myself will add some saturated fat in the evening and that's it. Some good grass fed beef, Kerry gold butter, and some coconut or MCT oil. Not a lot but "some". I'm not big on PUFA so I don't hardly consume them anyways.Since this diet is very low in fats, any concerns about doing this long term ( ie., consuming enough essential fats for regular metabolic processes)?
Asking because I have zero idea either way.
Btw, gained 10 pounds in 3 days of unstructured vacation eating, so I’m thinking I’m in a good position to try the sugar diet for a few days and seeing what happens.
Correct, the overall macros are similar that's what I was saying. But the structure like you described is unique to this diet. I'm saying thar perhaps the reason that typical high carb refeeds seem to work is because they may stimulate fgf21 a little as well with simple carbs and sucrose...eventhough protein is being consumed with the carbs
I guess the question would be, how much does a small amount of protein blunt the response? Or does it completely hinder it?
What is your general thought about adding 1-2 grams of omega-3's to fruit / sugar only meals through the day during a sugar fast? Some people seem to suggest mct oil is ok during the day but I'm still very new to this. When im done with my show I will probably give this diet an offseason go at least for a while, I myself will add some saturated fat in the evening and that's it. I think a number of people have commented on this. I've noticed it as well. The vascularity on my quads at rest has certainly improved. And it didn't take long to notice.Does anybody (or it is only me) noticed that bloat is gone? I started early in the morning and 6 hours later all water kinda gone? Despite the fact that i was eating only fruits. Yesterday i was eating fruits with proteins and i had like a thin subq water layer and i can swear that with every hour I am getting a bit clearer. I know that easy for me to notice is since i am very lean but I also saw BBoy is so dry and full as well.
Use MCT oil not omega 3'sWhat is your general thought about adding 1-2 grams of omega-3's to fruit / sugar only meals through the day during a sugar fast? Some people seem to suggest mct oil is ok during the day but I'm still very new to this.
They aren’t. The sugar fasting aspect is essential for this to happen.I'm saying thar perhaps the reason that typical high carb refeeds seem to work is because they may stimulate fgf21 a little as well with simple carbs and sucrose...eventhough protein is being consumed with the carbs
lol I was gonna sayThat’s definitely not considered high.
Protein actually has a mild diuretic effect so I’d assume it may be due to…I've noticed this in myself. Speculation but I feel like it has to do with protein being absent. I've ALWAYS put on a ton of water on my high days. The last week that I've been on this sugar diet, I've stayed dry. Something about protein and carbs being eaten together seems to cause some retention in me.
It typically takes 2-3 full days before the water is gone after a typical high day for me.
Definitely a fun rabbit hole to go down. I’m still surprised it’s considered “theory”Interesting idea and I think you are on to something here.
+1 I totally think it has a ton to do with gastric emptying speed. Combining macros seems to slow it down quite a bitProtein actually has a mild diuretic effect so I’d assume it may be due to…
Possibly
1. Higher potassium and vitamin c intake through all the fruit
2. Eating our standard bodybuilding meat foods leads to having typically more savory dishes, so likely more high sodium meals (salt, seasonings, sauces etc)
3. Higher fluid intake since fruits are mostly water (not to mention juices), causing you to flush more
4. More fiber due to the high fruit intake
5. Overall faster digestion due to not just the lower protein, but being on only trace fats.
So it definitely makes sense with the higher potassium, lower sodium, and higher fluid intake it’s likely a shock to your aldosterone causing you to initially flush a lot of water. Aldosterone system typically will adjust though, so interested to see how long the “dryness” lasts. I’m sure the flatter stomach and fasted gastric emptying through the day feels great, too.
Keep in mind I’m totally talking out my ass and spitballing![]()
I believe it is the combination of both taking place.FGF21 is increased by low protein, not high carb
Me too...seems much more like settled science to be honest and I think you are right on.Definitely a fun rabbit hole to go down. I’m still surprised it’s considered “theory”
I think youve got the right idea. Sodium is way down and potassium is upProtein actually has a mild diuretic effect so I’d assume it may be due to…

I think both diets are equally healthy assuming you take your carbs from fruits and fruits only plus honey not the haribo nonsenseJust wanted to say as a pretty "pure" carnivore I've enjoyed this thread. I do like to experiment here and there, and while I 100% think an animal based diet is best for long term health and longevity (again not meaning to argue that here we can do it elsewhere, just expressing my view) I do think I'd be open to experiment here and can see how it would improve body composition, especially short-term.
I’m on day 1, nothing but apples, lots of watermelon, strawberries , apples, a salad with craisins, fat free dressing… I’m eating like a madman but I never feel very satiated- any suggestions or tips? I’m craving protein because I’ve always liked a relatively low carb diet, maybe it’s that?
Why are you keeping it at 2200 calories? You need to eat on this diet or you will waste away to nothing..LOLDay 2 for me and yeah I’m pretty hungry through the day. I’m keeping it at only 2200 calories though so it goes with the territory
