Latest keep me relevant influencer fad the sugar diet

FGF21 stays elevated with a constant stream of sugar; it does not function like HGH where it continues to rise the deeper you are in a fast. I am not sure how you would work that in with a normal sleep schedule.
So during the sugar fast..multiple small meals is better than 3 larger ones I assume?

This leads me to believe that people are better off eating a high protein meal right before bed than a true sugar fast. If fgf21 needs to keep being spiked, and your about to go to bed anyway, a good dose of protein before bed....the pros (muscle retention) outweigh the cons (blunting fgf21),since it's about to drop quickly anyway due to sleep.

Joe Binley (author of “Fueled to Thrive” the sugar diet book) goes to my gym. After talking with the guy for a bit he convinced me to try out the sugar diet for at least a day.

Gonna give it a try tomorrow and report back with how it’s got me feeling.

If all my muscle falls off I blame @b-boy for psy-oping me with his dick-skin physique updates on his log

The sugar diet is awesome, don't fear muscle loss.

Cant imagine eating different now on days off. I am sure it helping greatly with metabolism. It is also THE most tasty diet i ever had- keto comes really close but fruits is number 1.

I do it about 1x a week...sometimes just a sugar fast...other times with a large 150-200g protein meal before bed. You definitely feel lean when waking up the next day. I never use junk...just fruit and honey. I will say the next morning my stomach feels gross...especially if it was all fruit without the protein final meal. I can only do 2 day...it starts out fun but by the end of the day I hate fruit lol

I did a sugar fast today..rather than lots of berries and fruit covered in honey I ate apples and bananas throughout the day. Holy hell straight apples fill you up by 1500 measly calories i was full. Apples are super satiating.

How much carbs is that on offdays for you?

I just want to add something about the sugar diet. I did it for almost two months over summer without GH in my system at the time. Got scared of insulin resistance and went back to normal macros(50/30/20) and was checking my blood sugar daily when I reintroduced 4iu GH a day. My fasting blood glucose spiked to 105 in the morning after a few weeks on GH, and I said fuck it. Jumped back on the sugar diet without removing GH to expirement. Literally eating 700g of carbs from fruit, honey, sorbet, and no fat candy a day. Fasting blood glucose after 3 day sugar fast and still using 4iu GH, 76. 90 minutes after eating 200g of sugar from sorbet and pineapples, 80! I checked it on different fingers to make sure because I couldn’t believe it. Also the energy on this diet it’s like your on stims all day. Love it. I’m getting bloodwork done in 4 weeks and uploading it here

I do find value in a day sugar fast when gaining, gives the digestive system a break, feel leaner the next day, etc

As for bell I tried to give this a listen...everyone knows he just switches his diet every 2 weeks for clicks..but I think this guy just generally likes to find ways to justify eating shit because he can't control his cravings...the way he talks about eating candy at the movies, he talks for 5 minutes about ways to eat a peanut butter cup...dude has a junk food addiction..no wonder he did well on carnivore..

Yes, I have a good friend and she has type 2 diabetes but is in excellent shape. She said the same thing, zero BG issues with fruit. Says it’s the best thing for her personally

Honestly I wouldn’t have tried it if @b-boy hadn’t done a log on his experience. I wasn’t expecting B-boy’s results, as his genetics, work ethic, and consistency are top notch, but was intrigued because I’ve never been a fan of protein over 250g a day, and always did terrible on keto with high protein versus low protein. Thought sugar diet would be similiar due to restricting amino acids and FGF21. I don’t think I’ll go back to regular diet, don’t need to if I do one or two protein and fat refeeds a week.

So I saw Bell has pretty much abandoned this diet. Ironically I had not seen a lot of content from him, and casually looked him up on insta, and he looked so much smaller and softer than he had since 6 months ago. Not sure what his training goals are but he as lost muscle and conditioning. I also saw that he as recently abandoned the sugar diet. Not sure if there is correlation there between the changes in his physique and leaving the diet, but I do know that he has said he is chasing health, and aesthetics at this point. It was just a bit funny since he basically concluded that through all of his diet flip flops he has landed on high protein, moderate to lower carb, and low fat.....so a traditional bodybuilding diet? Who would have thunk it? I also saw a few months ago Chase Irons was running this for a minute and concluded it was not ideal for him.

I was coaching a guy who wanted to run it, but he had to go overseas for embassy duty and I have not heard from him since.

How are you guys that were utilizing it faring? Always want to keep sharp on how things work even if they are not my first choice to advise people on?

(this post was not meant to knock sugar diet or anyone doing it, just kind of interesting turn)

I personally think he is a clown. He hops from diet to diet worse than I was hopping from routine to routine when I was watching "exercise science ' thinking training more "scientific " could benefit me. I think the issue with bell is he has poor discipline and is a junk food addict. You hear it in his videos when he talks about candy and going to the movies and eating candy ..its like a father talking about his favorite son. So he's constantly changing his diet looking for the secret that he can satisfy his cravings, eat a ton of food, and not get too fat. Hence the carnivore which kept him in line, then he went more extreme and did his candy version of the sugar diet, and probably started binging or quit.

Imo he will always struggle to stick to a normal reasonable diet and always be looking for a "hack" that allows him to either eat junk or massive quantities.

As for the sugar diet, I did a couple sugar fasts to expirament. I did feel leaner the next day and like any bloating or distention went away..like a gut reset. But I personally found just eating fruit during the just made me extremely hungry where im usually never hungry. I also counted my calories so my sugar fast days were at maintenance or in a deficit. This differs from bell as he seems to say don't count calories...again in my opinion..because he is looking for a magic diet where he can just eat massive amounts..not because he truly believes counting calories isn't necessary.
