It takes a long ass time for food to digest and be used for energy.
Anything you eat pre workout won't be used to fuel the workout unless you ate it at least 4 hours or so pre.
Imagine you ate plenty of carbs the day before. And your glycogen stores are full. And since yesterday you haven't done any exercise or burnt much fuel at all. You will still have more than enough glycogen stored to fuel a workout.
