Legs and cardio, how long...

After a hard leg day where I would be pretty sore for a couple of days, Is doing cardio detrimental to my gains? I'm talking 60-70% mhr. I do cardio 6 days a week. So if I had to wait a couple of days this would throw my whole cardio out the door.

you should be able to do cardio the day after doing legs. but also your legs shouldn't be sore for a couple of days after you train them.

Given your nutrition and supplementation are in check, cardio wont be detrimental when done mildly and not over-exerting yourself. In fact, I see it as breaking up lactic acid and allowing greater blood flow throughout the day which in turn will put nutrients in favorable places. If you were doing sprints on a track 6 days a week or long distance running/jogging there may be a problem. As sick as it sounds, Im loving cardio more and more. Its a nice tool.

There are several mass routines for legs that involve cardio post work out.

Delayed recovery and loss of muscle mass don't seem to be associated with cardio, even regular cardio, unless the session becomes too long. 30 minutes seems to be the upper limit my body will tolerate without undue stress, but 15 minutes will leave me feeling fresher than when I stepped on the track.

With all the health benefits and stress relief I get from a bit of running, its really a no-brainer. For us old timers, a few extra minutes on the run might mean a 1/2 inch lost on the quads, but a few extra years on this earth!
