LEGS: Platz vs Ferrigno

Yea branch's legs are photoshopped like a mofo

In fairness to Lou he is not flexing and he is standing next to the best set of developed legs ever bar none. But everytime I see that pic I can picture Lou saying WTF I quit training legs.

even unflexed and far from the camera no matter cause Platz as we all know is the QUADFATHER.:headbang:

I'm a huge Tom Platz fan. For may years because I'm a legs guy. But to say he has had the best legs EVER... well, I do question that a little. I might even still vote for Platz. But I'm not going to say he was the biggest, or the most ripped, or the most vascular - but I sure do as hell LIKE him the best!

Totally different levels during the same era.

Platz looks to be in comp shape here while Lou looks more offseason?

Either way there's no comparison even if Lou was in shape.

Platz is for legs like Munzer was for condition. Jaw dropping.

Tom Platz has just sick, wicked leg development, even before his time, but compared with today, his legs would be the only thing fitting in (not standing out).

i don't see very many, if any guys that have the separation that Tom did. especially at that size they were.

how many 6'4 - 6'5 competitors have massive legs ?

i think those guys suffer, not from lack of mass, but having to strecth that mass over a longer distance. this doesnt excuse lou's conditioning.. however it does explain why taller men have the illusiion of skinnier legs.

Platz legs are so freaky that I don't even know which muscles those are in the middle? Is that his hamstring or adductors?

What about Columbu? I don't know how big his kegs were but he used to dead lift a bar filled with plates.

Lou had long been retired at this point.

It kind of makes me wonder...Platz has the best legs ever, but he didn't even compete with the advancements in pharmacology and knowledge we have today.... Just imagine what he would have looked like if you took everything he did then and optimized it with today's best practices and PEDs...OH MY....

Genetics always play a role but that picture of him as a teenager or young man show that his legs were his worst body part. To me it's a reminder, hard work first and gear second! Platz trained like an animal. He used AAS to complement his intense training. It seems like a lot of people today focus more on gear and train with minimal focus and intensity...They use training to complement AAS instead of the other way around!!

I recently watched this video with Tom Platz and the way he did hack squats blew my mind. The reset of the video showed how intense he went at leg workouts.

Edit: The Hack squat starts at 2:30

I just can't get over what he did with his legs. They where a weak point early on as mention by another poster.

He should teach a squat seminar

I think with some light weight on hack squat you can get a very good post workout stretch on your quads using his technique. I'm going to try that in my up coming legs day.

Guy was just built to squat.... amazing technique and form.
