For the competitors out there. How long is your typical prep?
Ive done 20 weeks for my first show ever, but I needed it as I was above 15% bf at the beginning. Ive also done 16 weeks and at the start was probably 11-12%, so the length of that prep was too long and I made a few poor choices towards the end as well, resulting in me losing too much muscle and not being able to really fill out properly.
For my fall show next year I am considering 12 weeks but I think this number is highly individual and can change for each individual depending on some key factors. Body fat % being one, metabolism and how you respond to certain compounds. The structure of the prep itself, and wether you are prepping for a show or for a season.
Anyone else have any feedback here? What really determines how long your prep should be? Is there an ideal number of weeks? Have you fucked up your own prep by going to long or short?
