Ligament partial tear

Ive had an ongoing issue for 7 months now, which my sports medicine doc thought was tennis elbow. After 3 months of occupational therapy, I went to another doc who did some ultrasound imaging and said it's a partial tear of the radial collateral ligament (elbow). He recommended PRP with adipose cells (insurance wont cover, $2k out of pocket) or at least prp ($1k out of pocket). I feel its worth a try before surgery.

Has anyone had a good experience with prp and/or anything else for a ligament injury?

Check ya PM's that's my suggestion bro...

Is this same doc who recommend plp the doc who will be profiting if you decide to go that route? Also what country?

Located in USA.

Ive been to 2 docs. The first mentioned prp but first suggested physical therapy. After 3 months physical therapy I saw a different doc, he did ultrasound imaging and said its a ligament tear that wouldn't heal on its own and he recommended prp. Yes, he would benefit financially. Next, im going back to the first doc.

Besides surgery and prp what other options have you heard of for a ligament repair.

I didnt even know they did prp in the usa. Is this new? I'm not 100 percent sure I would make sure the doc you see is the doc of some sort of local sports team (professional or college), I wasnt aware that an ultra sound could see ligament tears thought only an MRI? I wouldn't trust the prp guy it sounds like he's out to make a buck like a chrio or something. Orthopedics surgeons and physical therapists only, preferably ones that work with local sports teams.

I tore my tricep tendon, best surgery I ever had. Never bothered me again (after 8 week recovery).
I say let it tear and let insurance cover the costs.

Its been available in the US for at least 10 years, but insurance wont cover it and it is expensive. I have an appt tomorrow with a well regarded sports medicine specialist. Im probably going to try prp and if its not better in 2 months ill move forward with surgery.

Ill also ask the dr tomorrow about seeing ligament injuries on an ultrasound. I believe those injuries can be seen since many places seem to use ultrasound guided placement of prp, but Ill get his thoughts. Also, great idea on university doctors. Ill also look into that.

Thats awesome to hear. In my case, I think its a ligament, so the recovery time could be much longer, but its great to hear a good experience from someone that underwent surgery.

I've had a few friends do well with stem cells and/or PRP

Friend 1: Torn meniscus. 3 different surgeons wanted to repair it. Had PRP 3 years ago- no issues since.

Friend 2: Surgeons wanted to do full knee replacement. Had stems cells and PRP instead. About 8 months post procedure now and doing well. The recovery was longer than anticipated but obviously much less aggressive than a total knee replacement.

Friend 3: Labrum and stuff in shoulder: Stems cells and PRP. Been 3.5 years and no issues.
