To find the going price of bitcoin you can go to bitstamp.net. Most people go my this number as the price of bitcoin.

I purchased $150 worth of bitcoins and it only gave me $85 in bitcoins.
Sounds like a ripoff to me. I think I'll pay my $20 W/U fee and be good to go.

My price per bitcoin was not that low though. Mine was closer to 4456.
It wouldn't let me buy lower than that. Said my number of transactions
wasn't high enough or something. Really wish someone would have explained
this part of bitcoins before I spent my dollars :banghead:

You want to buy $500 worth of bitcoin.
The rate of 1 Bitcoin is $2574.92 from this seller.
So a $500 purchase will get you .1941... bitcoins.
The seller is marking up the price of bitcoin so he can make money. So you might have to spend more than the actual value of a bitcoin. 5-10% more depending on the payment option. I check preev.com for the value then you can calculate how many bitcoins you need.

You should buy 10% more than what you need in case the value fluctuates, plus to cover any fees. There is always a fee when you send bitcoin.

You have to shop around. Some guys really jack it up. Method of payment also affects it
