looking for literature for how much protein you can absorb

I need some help finding literature on how much protein the body can absorb if there even is a limit.

Have a guy at work that is selling some 90 day challenge protein meal. Its soy base protein but he swears its great because the flavanoids have been filtered out. Im not into the whole soy thing and ive seen studies where soy blocks the body from absorbing minerals.

But his protein is $99 a month for 30 days. Each serving is only 12 grams of protein. Id go through that in a couple of days. He is convinced from his pyramid mentors that you cant absorb more then 20grams at each setting.

Im not buying into the whole bit that your body cant absorb more protein. I tried to explain that the average BB's weighs over 200lbs and is using energy all day from the mass he carries. Theres no way your wasting a 50 gram protein shake drink.

Can anyone help with some good solid literature

You absorb all the protein you eat unless you have kind of digestion problem.

The question that should be asked is how much protein is anabolic at each meal. There will never be a concise answer either. Everyone partions nutrients differently. As kaladryn said you absorb everything.
 
The mirror, how you feel, and your digestion will tell you how much protein YOU can "optimally" utilize
 
Does your body utilise more protein if you add t3 or slin?
 
I was under the impression thatyour body will absorb as much as it needs.
 
im sticking with my high protein diet, im alot bigger then he is so thats enough for me lol.

It absorbs as much as you eat. It uses protein for what it "needs" be it protein building or energy (to utilize or store).
 
Everyone knows you body can only assimilate 30g of protein every 2 to 3 hrs;)
 
Anybody that has eaten a shit ton of protein on a regular basis has had the protein farts and protein shits. The body does not assimilate all of anything. But protein especially above a certain amount goes right out the back door.

Im sure everyone has a different idea/argument. But weve all had the protein shits..... so there ya go!

Both are right really... 30g for muscle if any left 'energy' if more still 'storage'. This is what I was taught...but that science I learned is 20 yrs old just fyi
