low carb diets and energy levels

I forced into a very low carb diet (100-130 grams a day), as I'm type 2 diabetic. I'm having energy issues. I know some BB go low carbs. Do you have similar experiences? I'm trying to narrow the problem down, is it the diet or am I a p**** (or both LOL)

I'm taking pills for type2. Basically I felt near normal, when I was relocating/moving and not working out. When I started weights with rest periods I felt OK, but some fatigue. When I try to pick it up, less rest more work, I have fatigue not only during, but it seems to be bad the next day. Just tired as hell. I REALLY want to get back into grappling, but there is no way at current energy levels. The dr is pushing me away from slin, but I might have no choice. My type 2 is genetic, I'm not huge overweight. I think that adds to the problem, as there are very few people that get it from genetics. Thus, it's hard to find athletes with it and find out what they are experiencing.

Recovery agents (ie juice) doesn't seem to affect the fatigue. Though it does help with strength:)

Low Carb

When I am going low carb I feel best when I have carbs in the morning and lunch and little to none after 3:00 pm. Only carbs from green vegetables after 3:00 or so. This seems to help rather than rationing the carbs for all day. BTW I occasionaly go below 50g a day at the beginning of a diet.

I recently switched to a low carb diet (about 100gr total carbs per day PWO only), I feel much better, much less tired. Ok I lost 'some' volume but thats just water. Strength is even UP. A carbohydrate is the least essential nutrient for a reason

Add in some healthy fats for energy

How many days are you going 100-130 grams of carbs?

I know that when I go low for an extended period of time I get crabby and short tempered.

Sounds like you moved not too long ago, has there been any other major changes in your life? More work, less sleep, longer commute, etc?

ya add the fats, if your doing low carb and not increasing your fats you will lose a significant amount of muscle with the fat. try some olive oil an oz. a few times a day, or almonds, avacado, fatty fish (salmon). this will still keep the carbs low but help sustain hunger and engery levels through out the day.

taking a good multivitamin for me everyday, made a world of difference when i went the low carb route.

A low dose of acetyl-l-carnitine does wonders in such cases. It takes a while for your body to adapt to low carbs. How long have you been doing this?

Well...I think the dr is thinking I will be doing this very long term. If I don't use slin, this is basically the way it will have to be.

I've been working on it since I was diagnosed in marchish, the first couple months were a little higher, as I kept finding carbs in more and more things I had to eliminate.

Yes, I have a short fuse and am crabby, but I'm not sure I can blame totally on the diet:)

I'll look into the stuff mention...Thanks....
