Bloodworks shows a low level of dhea. Dont know the exact level yet.

Is it possible that this is from using trt? I only found studies about dhea raising testosterone levels.

I know it can be a result of other conditions but trying to rule out the Obvious first :)

Lowish DHEA is normal on trt. Testosterone is made out of DHEA, when your body no longer needs to make test, you no longer need as much DHEA.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought this could be possible but I wasn't sure. Doc wanted to send me to a endo:eek:

Even supplementing with 25mg/day my levels are right at the bottom of the range. As it is used for other functions besides T I like to keep the pathways open as much as I can.

How low is low? Several things can be attributed to lowish DHEA-s levels. As for testosterone or any other anabolic, yeah they can take jabs at the synthesis rate of side chain cleavage, therefore hitting adrenal hormones.

Aside from that, inflammatory reactions, as well some medications can punch DHEA-s in the dirt.

I have no idea how low it is, he was suppose to email it but he didn't do it yet. He just told me through the phone.

The weeks prior I was a bit sick (diarrhea:eek:). I'm on no medication apart from 150mg test e per week. The days prior to the bloodtest, I took Some red yeast Rice, saw that statins could have a negative impact on dhea as well

Is it ok to leave it low for as long as I'm on trt?

Stewie made a good point, there is "lowish" which is low end of normal range, or just a bit below it, and there is significantly lower than the normal range. TRT will lower my DHEA, but usually still inside the normal range, just very close to the low end. I have also read articles by doctors saying that they see DHEA lowering over a long period of time in TRT patients, it's one of the famous "TRT docs" that says this. This is exactly what I notice in myself also.

That is all I know, I suggest pursuing Stewie's link.

I just take LE's DHEA 25 mg, and let it dissolve under my tongue. It's cheap so why not

Mine was also low end of the normal range so I began taking 25mg very morning and it jumped to the medium-high end of normal.

Does it help when doctors add dhea and progenelone to the mix?
