I agree that every"body" responds uniquely when it comes diet and training. I personally have had the best results, since being in my forties, by consuming a decent balance of both carbs and fat as long as my protein stays in the 1-1.25 grams per lb of bodyweight range. High carb and low fat for me always leaves me looking and feeling flat but once I add some fat back in, my muscles look and feel fuller. The same goes for vice versa (lower carb with higher fats. However, for a some other people that I either know or that I've helped with training and nutrition, get slightly better results with predominantly one or the other. I have no idea why it's like that for me but it is... It was more about either being in a calorie deficit or surplus that dictated fat loss for me as long as my training, activity, and rest levels were all where they needed to be. I'm 48, so close in age to you, Lildawg.
