Low Fat vs Low carb!!

I would say given the same caloric defecit (and assuming adequate protein) ,there's not much difference. I prefer to keep my carbs as high as I can while still dropping fat...have done both, but find that low carb tends to slow my metabolism, and then I have a tough time when reintroducing carbs in terms of keeping lean.
 
How much is the highest carbs one has taken while dieting for a competition while still loosing BF?

I know Sammy555 said 300g.

I like to get my fats from Almonds,Avocados and Olive oil.

Protein and fats are essential,Carbs are not.
 
I have always been against no carb diets and have always stuck with a 45/35/20 (p/c/f) as a base and cycled my carbs and fat accordingly. This past summer I did a ton of research on keto diets and gave it a try and I actually loved it. I kept my strength and leaned up nicely in 6 weeks with no cardio. I think it just depends on the individual as far as what works and what is sustainable to attain the desired goals.

I hate dieting low/no carbs... So ill just keep my carbs or cycle them, have fats in there maybe twice a week early in the day and do my cardio..

I've had good results with both at different times of my life. Some of it was dependent on drugs, some lifestyle. I just know that either works if you put in the work. I will say one legal supplement that has helped me ingest more carbs on a regular basis is Indigo. I was really skeptical at first but I have to say it made me a believer.

Think your right. I keep protein at 250 now as it let's me eat more carbs. I'm comftably holding body weight and getting slightly stronger on 400 carbs 250 protein and about 50 fat if I count incidentals. Don't count incideincidentals on protein and carbs. In going to slightly up carbs and fats over next few weeks but just enough to maintain strength gains while holding body fat.

:D:Dive prepped on 120 gram carb on leg and back day. half that on smaller body part days and zero carbs on off days. i got the leanest ive been but pumps sucked, strenght etc. even everyday activities were a chore. im not gonna bodybuild anymore so i think the low fat for long term seems sufficient in staying lean with hiit and high volume. ill give it a shot

Macros should adjust based on training. If you're doing high volume and incorporating some HIIT on top of it, your body is going to need carbs. Otherwise it will use amino acids. If their not available, it will catabolize muscle tissue. Fat is not utilized as a source of fuel for this type of training (well very little).

On the other hand, if you do low volume with high intensity (let's say 12 sets of 3 to 5 reps) and limit cardio to just walking, then low carb may work very well.

We also have to clarify what is "low". For me anything below 200 gm is low. I've been at 200 gm for about a week and feel I'm needing a carb-up soon.

There's so many factors into dieting and what macros you use some of which include but not limited to:

Age.
Metabolism.
Your lean body mass.
Drugs being taken.
Training volume & Intensity
How many calories do you burn throughout the day other than just lifting.
Insulin sensitivity.

I find that very low fat with higher carbs helps me get lean while keeping fullness and pumps/vascularity. Mood stays ok and I find while I'm a bigger guy this benefits me the most. Down fall is I'm usually starving all the time

Lower to moderate carb with normal to higher fat keeps my hunger down while dropping bf but I lose fullness and don't recover as well.

Low fat low carb and high protein gets me LEAN fast. But I stay hungry and lose strength fast. My traing goes to shit as well. No pump but I usually stay pretty vascular this way.

I think it's just all about what finding works for you as eveyone responds similar but also very different with macros
