Low Vitamin D

Just picked some of same stuff up yesterday
Sorry, sometimes I don't see the reply's.

Yes, supplementing with a Good Quality Vitamin D-3 will raise your Levels.
Since it's a Fat Soluble Vitamin, it should be taken with some Dietary Fat.

Though you can get around that if you choose a Vitamin D, that has the Fat added to it.
I take Sports Research High Potency Vitamin D-3, it has Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil added to it ~ 5,000 IU's daily in Summer, 10,000 IU's daily in winter, as I'm in a Northern Climate......................... JP

It can apparently take a long time to restore optimal
D status. One site, which I can't find now, suggest this protocol which they claim is safe for most. Get 50,000iu
caps of D3, saw a couple of brands searching on google. You take one pill a day for a week. Then one pill every 2 weeks. This way you reach the desired level almost immediately instead of months and months if using say 2k or 5k a day. Thoughts?

It would certainly be more convenient. I'm curious to read the studies and science behind it, if available. This would be helpful for my wife... I have a hard time getting her to take fat soluble stuff separately from her morning empty-stomach stuff.

I read somewhere that high dose vitamin-D can cause some issues with the kidneys. Do you guys know anything about this?

I usually take 5000iu of vitamin-D before bed with 1tbsp of peanut butter and 500g greek yogurt. Is that enough fat?

You'd have to use a really high dose for health problems to occur. Keep your blood level between 50-80 and you'll be fine. I'm at 71 on 1000iu per day.

I'm a bit uneasy about loading it myself, especially without blood work. But these high dose caps seem convenient and extremely cheap.

I remember Phil Hernon saying D3 supplements will kill a lot of bodybuilders in the future. :D

I'm taking 5,000 plus another 2000 with my glucosamine pills that have added vitamin d. My levels were below 25 I think 24 total very low. I havent noticed much will see how my joints feel in another week
