Making a new pro bodybuilding federation?
What do you think would happen if somebody came along and made a new bodybuilding federation that would compete with the IFBB?
The new federation would have fair and impartial judging rules, a playoff style competition set up, such as
1-6 regualr season shows
* top 5 in each show qualify for the top competiton at the end
the main competiton would rival the mr olympia and have live bands like creed or godsmack as an opening act , and intermission acts, etc
the main prize money for each regualr seaon competition would be like $30-50,000 and the main competiton would have a purse of $1,000,000.00
If this new federation started promoting right like having shows on fox sports net and ESPN or in prime time saturday night or afternoon like figure skating and tennis.
Have the winners of nationals or the USA's get thier pro cards to either federation the IFBB or the new one.
Do you think alot of pro's would switch to the new federation or stay with Joe Weider.
LETS TALK BRO"S.......

Oh damn , I almost forgot about that..
but still, all the pros complain about the IFBB and it's low pay for the athletes, as well as the bullshit judging. I was just wondering if any of the pros on the board like Big A, Kiwi, Phil hernon would have an answer to this.
Besides, how long did Vince McMahons WBF operate for?

it would be next to impossible to dethrone weider and his deathgrip on bodbuilding. he has the magazines to martket the bodybuilders and deep pockets (which he never gives to the bodybuilders) one of the saddest things i have ever seen is when weider brought in dana carvey to do a standup comedy acy at a show and paid him in excess of 100,000. but yet, the purse was i believe 60,000 for the bodybuilders. lets face it. we are a cult sport and it should remain as such. for them to try to get in the olympics ect would actually ruin the sport that we love.
the average person does not understand what we do and think we are idiots for doing it.lol if anyone would try to get a organization going he would need large amounts of cash and magazines to promote it. the wbf tried but, failed after 3 to 4 years. maybe when joe himself leaves this world it might change but, that might be awhile.

sounds good but would never work. Bodybuilding as seen by the mainstream is pretty boring when being watched on television after a few minutes. The rules and criteria would have to change to resemble entertainers to keep things interesting. Can you say professional wrestling! The winner would still be 'preselected' so it's a waist for a serious competitor.

Great Idea
I wish it would come true one day. Lot of politics in the IFBB. I know a woman judge who told Lee Priest that she would choose one competitor because he was cute. I think it was Tony Dee, the blonde haired lady. Why the hell is she a judge???? WTF???? We need ex-bodybuilders or even present ones, not fat guys, skinny guys, gym owners, or actresses as judges. This is why I am glad my good friend Gaspari is a judge, at least they are moving in the right direction instead of a cast member from Welcome Back Kotter judging us.

i agree phil, toni dee should not be a judge. she is not qualified by any streych of the imagination. her rep around the venice area has always been one of "if you can play, you will get my vote" how many times could aaron baker get screwed? how many times can lee priest get screwed? why? because they will not play ball. i admire priest because in every interview he tells it like it is and knows the political fall out will not further his career. but, he is happy and content where he is. more power to him. JUST LET THE BEST MAN WIN!!! how frickin' hard is that?

It would be nice.I remember in the 70's when Wabba(Serge Nubrets)orginazation popped up.Also the WBBG on the east coast run by Dan Lurie.I think Lou ferrigno one his only PRO(paid) contest in the WBBG.
Even Nabba which is older then dirt tried to get a hold with some US contests.Unfortunately every org fell by the way side whether to mismanagement, lack of support,or the weider money machine.
GRK.

I have to agree with Nandro on this one. Bodybuilding is WAY too misunderstood and overlooked by the general public for it to become mainstream. I sure wish it would!!! Fitness is a growing industry, but hardcore bodybuilding will always remain a back stage, under the table sport..... too bad for us!
Hell, I can't even get my own freakin parents to go to one of my shows.... LMAO!!!
Peace.
