You need HMG more than HCG, so if you only had one, HMG is the way to go. HCG appears to compliments the HMG by increasing sperm production indirectly, but HMG DIRECTLY increases sperm production because it contains FSH (follicle stimulating hormone). This is the actual hormone responsible for stimulating sperm production in the body.



On the other hand, HCG mimics LH (leutinizing hormone), which is the hormone responsible for stimulating testosterone production, not sperm production.



However, as mentioned above, combining HCG with HMG seems to have a synergistic effect on sperm production, so using both is ideal. You can use this protocol when you are ON or OFF steroids. It does not matter, as these compounds bypass the first two stages of the HPTA and head directly to the testes, where they stimulate testosterone and sperm production directly. How much concern do I need to have for estrogenic conversion or side effects?

Also, Mike do you know the timeframe between first injection of this protocol until I might be fertile enough? I almost assume that the introduction of HMG would quicken the process over just using HCG and Clomid

I personally dont think it matters which day you take them on.
I take HCG twice and HMG 3x a week. Sometimes on the same day, other times not.

And dont go by atrophy, i would run whatever protocol your on and then do a sperm analysis.
There are several companies who will just send you a vial and you can send it in by mail.
Takes like 5 days to get results back. let THAT be your marker.

I've read that size (relative to what you had when natural) is actually a good indicator of fertility / sperm count but have also talked to an endocrinologist who said you will have viable sperm before size returns and that size returning can take months and months. I was surprised to hear this after hearing people on forums saying it was within a couple of weeks. I agree sperm analysis needs to be done.
