1. Do you feel regular massage helps with growth? Recovery? Helps when overtraining?

2. Is there a specific type that is best? I've heard sports massage or active release?

3. For those who dont socialize at the gym, how do you find a good therapist? Are there sites?

I love ART (active release therapy). I also regularly see my physiotherapist for IMS (dry needling). Both help greatly in terms of recovery for myself and my range of motion decreases when I stop going.

Now, I could easily just set time aside to stretch and likely get a similar outcome..

As far as helping with growth, I can't definitively say that. I feel like the overall better well being feeling and standing upright, having better body posture can contribute to the growth, sure. But if one were to say it helps with growth, you'd also have to say something like yoga helps with growth IMO.

how did you find your art person? how does it compare price wise to a regular massage?

ART keeps me going and has helped with many aches and pains, I pay 80 bucks for a session, session usually last 45-60 minutes, and sometimes that is about all I can take pain wise, im sure the price varies

ART therapy is great! MFR (Myo Fascial Release is also fantastic! Both help to not only release stress allowing the muscle to relax more actively as well as correcting imbalances and compensations long therm. This allows yor training to be more effective and activates your muscles through an increased ROM.

I got lucky, my ART guy messaged me on Instagram and wanted to give me 2 free sessions in exchange for a shoutout. I told him I would do 1 and only give a shoutout if his service was as good as he said it is.

I now regularly see him and connected him with a good friend of mine who went on to open up a clinic with him.

In Canada, usually ART guys are advertising their services at bodybuilding shows etc so that could be a good place to start. Wish I could help more.

1. I use a Theracane daily, usually several times.

2. I use Rad balls several times per week on lesions.

3. I see a deep tissue massage therapist as many times per year as my insurance will cover.

4. I see a physical therapist every week who does extensive soft tissue work and is an Astym specialist (also covered by insurance).

5. I sure a Rumble Roller 3x per week all over my legs and back.

All of these I feel improve recovery and are invaluable to me. I can understand if you can't get it covered by insurance and it's too much out of pocket, but if you have insurance and it will cover medically ordered PT and massage, make sure you use it. I've been lifting for 30 years, I have a prescription for PT for both of my shoulders and both of my hips. AND it's the best money the insurance company ever spent because it avoids much more costly surgical interventions, so they don't mind at all.
