Haha you guys seen this video?

YouTube - Huge Phil Hernon Profile

It's so cliche. Big all-American bodybuilder in the 90's telling kids to get off the streets and make something of themselves. I love it. :D

It's so inspiring in a cheesy way. Reminds me of when I was a little kid looking up to pro wrestlers telling kids to take their vitamins and say their prayers every night before they go to bed.

Phil's a badass, everybody already knows this. Case in point, 3:07

I can't tell if you're talking shit or not? I don't think Phil's point was to get in the gym and get on roids, I think it was more saying get off the street and get in the gym, as in do something positive for yourself. But, I agree, Phil is a beast!

I'm not talking shit. You're reading too much into it.

I didn't get this from what the op said. I know there is a lot of Phil lovers and a lot of Phil haters out there but I dont think he meant any harm or malicious intent.

I don't love him I don't hate him; I don't know him. I just know he's a source of inspiration for me along with many other pros.

what a freak

the guy is a FREAK.
love him or hate him he has shown MANY people how to build a leaner more muscular physique and thats what we are all here to do.
he is very inspiring. especially if you know he still trains hard today and still loves bodybuilding. -JS

Thats why I respect him so much....He still trains to this day....where most Retired Pros....just let themselves go to shit.
He's kinda like me. I just love to train. Im always giving him shit because i have him training me right now......And im like........Is that all you want me to do?!?!?!?!?! WTF>!>!>!!>

But its working.

LOL, but I still think I need more! Im so use to training for 90+ min.
This 30 min W/O is just mind bending to me.
And his diet is ass backwards to what I am use to.....

But its working.

Love him or hate him.

His training styles WORK!

and that is why I plan to save a little dough and have him train me, all the way from japan!

look at a couple of the guys from the moving Pumping Iron, to include Arnold...but at least Arnold isn't fat.

EXACTLY...... My Dad was training during Arnold yrs....He is now 67 and still trains 4x's a week!
You have to love it.

Pumping Iron was made over 35 years ago. A lot of natural decline can happen in 35 years. I don't think any of the main participants in Pumping Iron "let themselves go to shit" I think they just succumed to old age. Lou Ferrigno who was the youngest of the group, and competed last, looks the best today.

Phil is an awesome guy! I don't know how people can even look at Phil as a trainer though, cause he is wayyyyyyy more then that. I look at him as my coach, mentor, and a good buddy I can always talk to all on top of being a trainer. I'm not trying to be sappy, but this dude is awesome.

Yeah, as far as that clip goes I truly respect the fact that he doesn't need a crowd of admirers around him to motivate him to lift with 110% effort.

Although he may not have displayed his true ability to train with maximum effort in this video, I have seen many others that showcase just how focused you need to be to achieve the level of development that he did and currently has.

THAT is what real bodybuilding is to me.

Sure you've got the science of contest prep and finding yourself in the experimentation of sets and reps, etc., but to have that intense drive and determination to push yourself to the max every time you set foot in the gym, because you know that you couldn't forgive yourself if you didn't, that is what it's all about to me.

And of course this carries over to every other aspect of your life as well. It builds strong character and also shows that you have it to begin with.

Yeah, Lou looks better than most 30 yr olds. Even his skin looks young. He looks very healthy. He is still muscular too, but nowhere near the size he was when he made that comeback.
