Thanks, after a few cycles of test/primo/mast and adding proviron, I'm really noticing how fast my hair loss is accelerating. I'm not expecting a miracle comeback with minoxidil, but wondering if it will at least stop or slow down the process.
While minox can be great for improving blood flow to hair follicles and extends the anagen phase (the phase of your hair cycle where hair is actually growing), it will not be so helpful alone against using AAS which attach to androgen receptors in your hair follicles to miniaturize them; doing the exact opposite of what minox is attempting to do.
Other aids like fina/duta can help but only in blocking the enzyme (5AR) which converts testosterone to DHT within your body. When using superfluous amounts of exogenous testosterone and/or other AAS, you are essentially fighting a losing battle.
Everyone is different in how they may respond to different androgens when it comes to hairloss. Remember, while fina/duta may block 70-90% of conversion to DHT, that leftover 10-30% is still hanging around and may be sufficient to continue miniaturizing hair follicles. In regards to other AAS, it’s a crapshoot as far as their effect on androgen receptors in your hair follicles and in turn that effect on follicle miniaturization.
I like to attack from all known angles. Fina or duta to blunt 5AR, oral minox to ensure prolonged hair growth cycles and maximize blood flow, ketoconazole shampoo 3x per week for slight topical DHT block, and the controversial piece, a topical anti androgen (RU58841, we don’t truly know how well it’s being absorbed topically and other side effects it may cause) to bind to androgen receptors in hair follicles in an attempt to stop other hormones from binding.
