As I get back more into hypertrophy work I’ve had some fun adding in different intensifiers and exercises I haven’t done in a long time.
Josh Bryant the powerlifting coach from Metroflex is the only person I’ve seen mention a mechanical drop set. Basically just knock out your normal set to failure and adjust the movement to give you a more advantageous mechanical position. I did it here dropping the angle on incline db press twice until I was flat. Each time a few breaths in between as you adjust and then knock out more reps with the same weight.
Could do it with higher rom each time on leg press/squat, from upright to forward leaning dips, push up or row ladders on a smith/power rack. Nothing earth shattering and I have no clue on the science. Just something different and fun to help push hard.
