Hey guys,

My good friend is going through some medical issues. I told him i would make a post on here

He’s had extremely bad Diarrhea for over 3 weeks now

Here it is :
Started around January 18. Slow at first. Progressed to what it is by around Jan 21. Told doctor on Jan 24. Did blood work , showed high crp, slightly high wbc, high eosphinlos and I think monocytes. I did also have a slight cold at that time but other fam members did too and no diarrhea.

I took. 3 day antibiotic of azitheomycin but it did not work.

I did a stool test right before starting the antibiotics and it showed negatives for virus or parasites.

Went to the doc in person Feb 7 and felt no real pain. He gave me 5 days of prednisone 25mg a day started Friday Feb 7. It isn’t working.

The peak times is 3 am to 8 am. I’m woken up 4-5 times to go. I don’t have pains all day but right before I have to go I hear a lot of gurgling and a slight cramp 1/10 pain in lower area then I know to go and I’ll feel better right after. The stool varies from all liquid to pudding like consistency that sinks to the bottom and on occasion very loose semi formed stools that float.

I’ve tried everything. Fasting.Fibre. No fibre

Meds I’m on :
37.5mcg synthroid a day
5 mcg cytomel a day
150mg test a week.
I do my own blood work regularly because of this and everything was always ok.
Low dose aspirin every night since Jan 2023

Had a dvt in Jan 2023. Had vascular surgery in October 2024 was recovered fine in a month.

Hes lost over 20 pounds in this time

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I told him to start on some semigluide. That will back you up 😅

Thanks guys 👍

Has he been screened for Ulcerative Colitis, Crohns, or IBS.?

What did he eat around the time it started and does his diet look like? I would start there and work backwards no matter the cause as it’ll be the biggest factor to healing.

With the high eosphinlos, watery stool and pain the first thought is parasites.

This could also be a bad histamine reaction to something he’s eating which would be inflamed worse by getting sick, especially if he’s had COVID at any point.

Histamine would be the easier to fix with DAO and food eliminations- tomato’s, dairy, fermented foods etc.

Parasites I would get additional testing for to confirm as blindly treating would make things worse if it’s not that. Methylene blue, wormwood and medication could consider Ivermectin.

Of course it could be IBS or Chron’s but he likely would have had symptoms earlier.

A gastroenterologist should be he his next stop and once he gets this settled down would suggest a GI Map.

Parsites? I wont bore you with details, but I lived in Taiwan for a year or so and holy fuck....I picked up the worst thing. Started with a C...but this was years ago.

No to this. Not yet. Doc said he doesn’t think Crohns no other symptoms. But hopefully hospital goes more in depth

The stool test I got shows no parasites.

My diet was the same 4-5 meals. A day

Beef rice veggies

Chicken rice veggies

Eggs and real sourdough. Or Greek yogurt and berries.

Fruit. Bananas and apples berries

Mix some oats and cream of rice with protein powder and natural pb

Jan 11 I had shawarma for a cheat. Jan 18 pizza but other family ate that too and no ine else got it.

I keep thinking parasites too but the stool test says no. I’m gonna ask for retest

His replies. Thanks again 👌

He could go straight for a GI Map or Thorne offers one that’s a bit easier and inexpensive:

I’d pull the Greek yogurt and fermented foods in the meantime. And no dairy of course.

Thanks brother. He mentioned the greek yogurt is lactose free but I’ll pass it on

Is celiac disease a possibility? The fast onset is not typical of celiac, but a lot of the symptoms described seem very much like what one if my children went through before he was diagnosed via upper GI examination.

Here’s hoping for a quick recovery, whatever the issue may be.

Greek yogurt is high in histamines. Lol sorry should have distinguished that better. That’s why I’d drop it for now.

Could be eosinophilic colitis? There's a relationship of NASIDs (aspirin) triggering this $hitty type of situation. Is he still taking the aspirin?

He’s been taking a baby aspirin for approx 2 years. I will pass on the info
Thanks

It may be worthwhile to mention it. If he's experienced a DVT in the past, it may be he's being Rx'd aspirin as a preventative? That would be a question that should be addressed with his vascular surgeon or cardiologist if they're in charge of his care. I would of like to believe an anticoagulant like Eliquis may of been a first line treatment?

Nevertheless, as uncommon as aspirin (ASA) induced eosinophilic colitis is. Given the information on the duration of ASA usage. I'd check that box as a possibility.

I would really suggest he goes to a gastroenterologist. My daughter was having random stomach issues not nearly as bad as your fitness) and holly molly she got 9 vials of blood for bloodwork and ruled out all kinds of stuff from celiacs to about any other issue imaginable.

Yes he was on eliquis for 3 months
The choice was his to return to baby aspirin but cardiology said it was a good idea . Thanks for your help

He has a colonoscopy on monday

My digestive system was so bad I thought for certain I was dying of cancer. BPC-157 healed everything
Injections or the pills? I’ve used injectable for a while last year to help with a strained muscle, but have heard oral is good for digestive system.

My gut has been fucked for a couple months now. Shitting like 6-8/day and it comes on with urgency. I’ve made some diet changes since then, but it hasn’t really healed much.

No medical insurance and want to do as much self discovery as I can before going to a doc

Update

“He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis today. Prescribed 40mg of prednisone a day with a slow and long taper. And make dietary changes to help.
He’s gonna do a search on the board for info as well but any tips for a first tome flare would be welcome.”

Thanks again for the replies 🤟

I wondered...sounds a lot like a close friend of mine who has UC. It is a hell of an issue to deal with during flare ups. My buddy was on prednisone for years on and off. Remicade (infusion) ended up basically saving him and then when he finally worked on his diet he has been flare up free for years. He spent two weeks in the hospital in college and literally went from 215 to 170 pounds and was basically crapping blood 24/7.

Diet wise (I'm just the messenger so don't freak out), once he got the flare ups under control he went hardcore carnivore diet. I mean beef only at first. When you are in the midst of a flare up you basically go virtually zero fiber and he'd feel better as soon as he'd add in fruits and veggies...boom...flair up. He decided to go pure "lion diet" and after about 90 days where he felt the best he ever felt he slowly added items in...but not much. He has been 90% carnivore diet/carnivore adjacent for 20 years and has not had a flare up in 15 years. He has had multiple colonoscopy's and everything looks great.

I know..."zero fiber diet". I get it...panic...freakout. But an extreme elimination diet like that basically saved his life and has had him living normal now for close to two decades.

Just my 2 cents.

and...I wish the best for your friend no matter what healing path he takes. Brutal, brutal issue to deal with.

Thanks bro. Appreciate your response and your experiences.

I have a buddy that told me he should be just doing fruits and leafy green vegetables. Cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon and apples. Tons of lettuce, spinach

Oh gosh yeah that is almost the opposite of what the docs will tell him. The red meat one is the debatable topic but almost all doctors will tell him to avoid greens like that like the plague.

This is pretty much the stock playlist for foods they will tell you https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317836#foods-to-avoid

The red meat is the one that is "controversial" but he should find unanimous support around avoid a lot of those other items. Fruit without skin, no green leafy veggies. etc. Huge triggers for most. Some fruit (fruit without skin) and low fiber veggies, etc. tend to be ok.

I would tell him to at least poke around on keto and carnivore adjacent diets. There have actually been several legit studies on it and it holds a lot of promise. Even docs that are against carnivore have started to prescribe it to chron's and UC patients occasionally. Best of luck to him man hope he finds the right program, quickly.
