Mega Gyms....How do you handle it???

damn. Which one you workout at now man? Whenever I'm home I train at the one in Chesapeake. I don't really work there anymore though. They told me I could work one winter break and I assumed I'd be getting paid since I was working at least like 80 hours or so over the break, but when I asked where my check was they told me they thought I was working for the free membership. The membership was like 35 bucks and I was supposed to be getting 7 bucks an hour... dunno if my math was wrong, but pretty sure I got hardcore dicked over

Ya sounds like you got screwed - that's corporate gold's for you. But only costs 35? I paid 49.99 a couple years back and have ever since.

I have workout in the on in VB, Ches, & Norf. I love Norf though, but still have some guys I know that lift at Ches that I go there and lift with sometimes. I don't prefer Ches because it's so open and warehouse like. The one in norfolk is old brick - big old windows, 3 floors, not really open, less distractions, AKA hardcore looking for a gold's.
Does Ches DB's go over 100? I don't remember, cause ours only go to 100 which is pretty sad.

The one thing I like about Ches is their floors are completely flat - so squats are real nice in there. In Norf, the floors are slightly rounded in some areas (nothing big, you can't see it but those that have squatted a lot can tell, and if you drop a dumbbell sometimes it rolls, and rolls, and rolls haha).

Also, even though I grew up in Ches, I live within viewing distance of the one in Norf so that's always a plus haha.

Maybe these mega gyms are putting the hurt on Gold's too ..... I just got back from working out at Gold's Gym in Battle Creek, Michigan where it cost .... get this ..... $21.00 bucks for a DAY pass .... one day! There is a major snow storm rolling thru here so didn't wanna mess with trying to find another so just sighed and got the training in.

And it was small, hell the Gold's I go to when in Raleigh is literally 5x the size and costs me 10 bucks ..... or at least it did the last time I was there.

I've heard the VB one is pretty much a bodybuilding gym (or at least it was before they changed it to OneLife) and that Norfolk was the one to go to. Ches has up to 125's, but they rarely get used. I like it cuz I train with one of my best friends there whenever I'm home from college. He's like the coolest dude ever.

This isn't the guy I'm talking about, but I assume you know who Greg Diesel is? Looks like a dbag, but a pretty nice dude who is sponsored by the Ches one for some reason... I don't get it really. At least he's nicer than an ex friend who trains there who thinks he's the shit.... pretty much a new age TapOut like dude.

Have you ever been over to Flex gym in VB? I hear it's the best gym in the area. It's like 25 mins from my house. If it wasn't so far from me I'd train there hands down.

If im ever away from home and a day pass is that outrageous, i just say im very interested in joining but id like to check it out. Can i get like a 3 day pass or something? ....works every time

if your at golds, you should get a travel pass from your local club (free). That way you dont have to pay the day use fee when you are on the road..
