Melatonin?

I am using Melatonin as a sleep enhancer. Is it bodyweight dependant? 3mg did nothing, 6mg did nothing but 9mg I slept great. Does anyone know how to optimise the dosage and any potential long term negative effects? Thank you in advance for responses.:D
 
1 does nothing for me either. I usually pop 2-3 and sleep like a baby.
 
12 to 18mgs for 210lbs

My Naturopathic Doctor told me at my wieght I need at least 12 mgs and to go up from there untill it worked. I take 15mgs plus 2000mg Valerian root. Works pretty well unless I'm cycling Tren then I need a precription for something stronger.
 
Hey, thats good to hear. I thought it must be bodyweight dependant. I am 230lb, pretty lean so 9mg plus 1000mg valerian should be OK?
 
Works for me with a double or triple dose (I weigh 230) That being said, if I take it night after night, it doesn't work that well. I'll usually take it 3x weekly on non-consecutive nights.
 
I weigh close to 230 now and one 3mg pill of melatonin still works for me everynight. Do not increase the dose unless it's necessary. The less you can get by on, the better.
 
I've noticed if I take melatonin on a full stomach, it won't work. If I take it on an empty stomach, I'm out within 20mins.
 
I'm 275 lbs and I take 9 mg before bed.
 
250+ lbs, and I use 300mcg. That is 3/10 of 1mg. Or 1/10 of a 3mg pill.

I read a medical study that showed that 300mcg produced the best results, that higher doses actually were counter productive, and it has always done the trick for me. To be fair, I have never tried more than that.
 
I picked up trueprotein's sleep aid a few weeks ago - it works very well.. I was actually yawning a lot the next day taking 2 pills, started taking 1 (label recommends 1-2) and now I sleep solid and wake up fine.
