Metformin and cheat meals

Does using metformin with cheals work or is it a waste since it takes time to build up in the liver? I've seen guys take it before there meal and after

I'm cutting and carbs are pretty low. So I'm not sure if it makes sense to use since my glycogen is low. I did read somewhere it helps with fat not being stored. Hopefully someone can chime in and help me out.
