Metformin for inflammation and ulcers

Yea yea I know , yet another fucking metformin thread , but bare with me.

so I've had terrible ulcers (stomach and esophagus) for decades and recently a friend with ulcerative colitis was asking me if they thought that taking metformin to help lower blood sugar would totally wreck their gut (he knows I take metformin)

and I figured it would , BUT after doing some digging it actually appears that taking metformin can HELP reduce the inflammation and effects of UC.!!
so knowing a lot of guys here use metformin for many different things and some guys do have ulcer , UC and IBS I was wondering if anyone had used metformin to treat their issues , of if they had issues and taking metformin made them worse.??
