Most regular family docs/general practitioners are behind. Just as with TRT, usually clueless. You'll find some endo specialists who get it. But you're crossing the line between treating and OPTIMIZING. Modern western medicine is all about treating, reacting to problems and profiting. Not much emphasis on proactive preventative treatment or hormonal OPTIMIZATION. This drug benefits ANYONE'S health. No question remains, hardly any debatable issues. No real sides. I've been promoting it a while. Fuck a script, you can get it dirt cheap from ADC. Time to take your health into your own hands. Most family doctors (especially older ones) are grossly behind the times in terms of continued education. I'm usually disgusted with the inadequacy and ignorance of most GPs who's skill set ends at dispensing antibiotics for people with sinus infections and prescribing people lipitor.i asked my doctor for it, and he wouldn't prescribe it for me since i don't have glucose issues.. i'll have to get it elsewhere.
are doctors scrutinized for prescribing it for health and longevity? it would be nice to get a script for it.
Gonna look into possibly getting on this. My fasting glucose is usually mid-high 90's. I've read under 120 is good, but after seeing what Dr. Kim had to say, I'm reconsidering if mine is good
Mid 90s is pretty high. Mine is similar so I benefit from the Metformin. I think it would be a solid option for you. I've read from a few sources (can't remember them) that you want it under 85.
Yea I'm gonna look into it. 500mg seems to be a good dose?
I mean yeaaaaa, but I take 1500mg to get my glucose and A1C down. Plus it has benefitted all my bloodwork so much and my Vitamin B never gets low so this dose seems to work well for me.
Need more GPs like this! That's awesome. My doc prescribed even though I don't have any metabolic issues. Told me he takes it himself for the metabolic profile. The science indicates that it will flat out make you live longer and costs under $20 for a 90 day fill.
Got some more bloodwork back. Tested CoQ10 and B12 since metformin can effect them but not for me:
CoQ10
2.52 HIGH. Range .37-2.20
Been using 100mg ubquinol(jarrow) with shilagate folic acid for around 6-8months or so. The 2 days prior to the blood test I was actually using 200mg ubquinol though. I opened a new bottle and didn't realize the dose was 200. Last dose was taken 24hrs prior to blood test.
B12 was really high:
>1999. Range 211-946
I don't take any b12 just a standard multi and maybe my pre workout and protein has b12 in it but I was fasted for around 25-30hrs before the test.
Also this isn't related to metformin but I decided to get Aldosterone tested as I heard long term GH use can cause elevated levels. I've been on GH and peptides for years but levels were normal.
10.4 Range 0-30
Interesting about your B12. Mine was high 900s and got knocked down to 800s on 1500mg Metformin
My doc prescribed even though I don't have any metabolic issues. Told me he takes it himself for the metabolic profile. The science indicates that it will flat out make you live longer and costs under $20 for a 90 day fill.
