Anyone have any supplements or advice for them? A good friends wife get them bad. I figure i'd reach out to the board to see.

I feel for her. I used to get them often but only on occasion these days. The last time I got one I used an injection of Sumavel and it cut the migraine down about 50% of what a normal one does to me. I lose vision,,,cant thing straight,,and get a POUNDING headache. I have to sleep mine off in a cool dark room.

Migraines:

Yup cool very very dark room, get an aura and tunnel vision, no peripheral vision either it very crazy'

Im on imitrex, by preacription, only other thing i ever took was exedrin migraine....so u can look into those

Make sure you dont have TMJ. That can set these off too. Open and close jaw and see if there is deviation. Whole head migraines are related to congested liver, while one sided HA usually means Gall bladder. TMG is good for either.
Cialis may be useful as vasodilator for some people.

Feverfew is the herb of choice.

As well as the medication/supplements Indian head massage can work wonders. Sometimes the tension may be around eyes and massaging it out really does work. Massage and relaxation are a great combo. But if she is out working etc then medication may be essential.

I was getting these myself recently but I think it was due to a combination of having a break from coffee and starting isotretinoin (accutane). I would take a tab and within 45 mins would get the worst migraine.

Go to doc. Mine were being caused by polyps in my sinuses. It could be something else causing it

Research b-6. its works well for reducing them. Thank me later. ;)

Some even stack coe10 and mag with it, but b-6 is what you need.

My wife suffers from them... Chronically. She's actually on short term disability due to them. She actually had an allergic reaction to one of the medicines that was prescribed to help. It got really bad and the specialist said it was in the Stevens Johnson Syndrome family.

I just know that she lost most of the top layer of her skin and was on ensure for 4 months. She's finally better after a little over a year, but feels her skin is blotchy now although I don't see it.

But she is scared to take anything now.... So she suffers through them. I note they come on a lot when the barometric pressure changes quickly. She's also went gluten free, dairy free, and eats very strictly. It's helped some, but she still gets them.

If it were due to true migraines, 10 mg Frozac would work, because the hypothesis is that migraines are caused by serotonin imbalance causing blood vessels opening and closing too fast.

I have seen maybe 2 real migraine patients in my clinic.
As stated above, there is upper cervical tension relieved with massage or botox injections; allergic reactions, so sometimes a child's anti histamine works well, but the big one is TMJ deviation, and loss of cervical motion from a straight neck. Lastly, measure total estrogen. Most blood test measure just estradiol, which leave the other 2 forms unchecked. This especially true when accompanied by endometriosis, breast fibroids, or polycystic ovaries, and a lot of weight carried in the butt area.

Estrogen overbalance can cause these symptoms. And measure serum serotonin.

I suffered from what my neurologist diagnosed as "cervical migraines" for years. Go see a neuro and stop playing the guessing game is my advice

My wife takes 20 mg Prozac daily. She never had her hormone levels checked, but her doctor said they could be very different from day to day so they put her on the pill to see if things even out. Never been diagnosed with TMJ, but we did have a custom night guard made for her to use while sleeping.

The neurologist also said from her scans that there were a slight amount of white matter lesions, but that was typical of chronic migraine sufferers.

Good news then . . . To slow done the brain degeneration, we recommend green tea, pomegranite, glutathione, B12, reseveratrol, Ginko, and dont worry about cholesterol levels, as the brain is made of it. Check total estrogen, serotonin , and homocysteine anyway, because if she not making serotonin, the anti depressants wont help!

All too common in my experience. drs. forget the pathophysiology and just jump into drugs. She may be having mini siezures -migraines, (verified by EEG), in which case Elavil is useful

A friend of mine had migraines, turns out she was allergic to the food coloring Red-40.

chew a no doze the minute u feel it, drink a red bull if that doesnt work...i have clusters they are 100 times what a migraine is...this is only thing that works
