Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I've posted. First off, I want to thank everyone here for all their kind words. As I was reading through this thread, I felt truly grateful for such tremendous support. To see this many people sending prayers and words of encouragement and concern, is overwhelming to me. Thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart. I will not forget it.
Now, for those who are interested, I will address both my health and some company matters. I'll begin with the health issues.
Health Status
A couple months ago, I started feeling a bit sick; tired, achy, and cold. It didn't seem like anything serious, but within a few days of experiencing these initial symptoms, I deteriorated rapidly. I felt very ill and cold. I was so cold that I was shivering uncontrollably. Even at room temperature and with 6 blankets wrapped around me, I was shivering to the point where my whole body was violently shaking. No matter what I did, I could not warm up. Over the following 24 hours, I began to experience extreme pain in my spine. That same day my wife noticed that my face was looking very pale and grey. She said to me "you need to go to the hospital because something is seriously wrong with you. You look like you're 100 years old and dying". I agreed, so I went to the hospital.
To make a very long story short, here is a rundown of events which transpired afterward. In the hospital, I was diagnosed with a serious staph infection; likely originating from a venous ulcer on my foot (due to a soft tissue injury I incurred many years ago). After myriad tests, it was determined that the infection had spread throughout my bloodstream and lodged itself in my heart, kidneys, spine, and shoulder joint. Initially, they were primarily concerned with my heart valve and were planning on replacing it as soon as possible, but as more information came to light, they said they needed to wait until the procedure could be done safely.
In addition to my heart, they also checked the function of every major organ. This is when they found out the bacteria had attacked my kidneys, so they began doing daily bloodwork in order to monitor their function. Over a 4 week period, my creatinine skyrocketed from 2.3 all the way up to 15. The doctors were initially hoping my kidney function could be resolved on its own, but because my creatinine levels kept climbing, they decided I needed dialysis. Since then, I've been doing dialysis multiple times weekly. As it is right now, the nephrologists don't know whether or not my kidneys will recover/partially recover. Sometimes, even the best kidney doctors aren't able to determine if acute kidney failure will lead to lifelong dialysis or a partial/ full recovery. If my kidney function doesn't improve within 3-4 months of regular dialysis treatments, I will likely need dialysis long-term/forever. Hopefully, my body will heal itself.
The spinal infection was the worst, by far, in terms of pain. The bacteria had eaten away at the nerves along my spinal column, which was excruciating; just horrible, unbearable pain. This spinal infection got so bad that it essentially left me paralyzed. I couldn't walk and for a period of time, I couldn't even move at all. All I could do was lay on my back...for 4 weeks. I couldn't even use my arms because any movement at all, even the raising of a hand, would cause my back entire mid-lower back to go into violent muscle spasms. They were so bad that, when it would happen, I would yell out in pain. The reaction was automatic. I couldn't prevent myself from yelling even if I wanted to.
The shoulder infection was the least problematic of all the issues, as it began healing shortly after receiving daily IV antibiotics. I also developed 3 blood clots, which are currently being treated with apixaban.
Regarding my heart, there were two options. Either I could have the open heart surgery and resolve the issue right away, or they could run a suction catheter & camera through a blood vessel into my heart, and remove the vegetative mass. They decided on option two, as it could buy me some time without the same degree of risk. If they hadn't removed the bacterial mass, the damage would've progress quickly, resulting in worsening function until the point of death. I still need to have open heart surgery, but not for a few months.
After about 7 weeks in the hospital, the infection had been eliminated, dialysis had commenced, and I was able to stand up again (I currently need a walker). Since there was nothing more the doctors could do for me at that point, they said I could be treated from home until I needed the valve surgery. I have a home health nurse come out to the house once per week to run bloodwork and a bunch of follow up appointments with cardiologists, nephrologists, urologists, and pain management clinics. After the valve replacement is performed, I should be able to make a full recovery (aside from, perhaps, my kidneys). It's going to be a long road, but within 6 months, I hope to resume a normal life.
Company Status
As many of you now know, the company remains open. That is not going to change. I have great people, including my wife, who are able to run this company without me. However, I play a central role in the production of my research chemicals. Peptides are synthesized in a manufacturing facility and come ready to sell, so they are easy to keep in stock. However, research chems don't come pre-made and I am the only one in the company who possesses the knowledge required to properly produce all these chems. Because of this, much of my inventory was sold out out during my hospital stay. I am now back to producing research chems, but please bare with me, as I have a LOT of products to re-stock and my body is still quite injured. Of course, I will eventually regain my full capability, but please understand that it may take me a month or so to get all products restocked. I will be restocking the biggest sellers first (ex. Enclom, L-carnitine, and SLU (regular and oil-based) are now back in stock). I will continue restocking them in order of priority. If you want a particular product that isn't in stock, shoot us an email at the Contact Us tab on the site, and I will make an effort to move it up the priority list. Make no mistake about it, I plan on having the best, most through research chem site on the market. I have big plans for the future and will not stop until I get there.
I am also going to be having every single product re-tested at an accredited U.S. lab and then have those confirmable results posted on every singe product page on my site. I actually started work on this many months ago, but then I ended up in the hospital and couldn't proceed any further. Being that my site currently contains about 200 products, the testing cost is rather large (40K+). Regardless, I believe this is a necessary next step in the evolution of the company. In order to be the best, a company needs to prove that their products are exactly what they claim to be, sell them at highly competitive prices, offer a massive selection of product, and have great customer service. I intend to meet all of these criteria.
Again thank you to everyone who posted kind words in this thread and have a great day!
