I have photographed some of the most famous people in the world and all my experiences have been very very good. They’ve been nice as pie. Of course they want to be on good terms with a photographer because you’re trying to make them look good for you but regardless, even when my camera is absent, they are, were, very nice and accommodating to me. I’m sure that does not go for all of them because at the end of the day, we’re all human and imperfect but in my little world it’s all been good.Yea I have met a number of famous people who are the opposite in person compared to how they appear in the media. They just know how to sell themselves as they’re in entertainment.

Raise your hand if you’ve spent hours of time around Mike and know him personally.
(Only person raising his hand)
Generations from now, people will be laughing at ours about “Remember when people believed everything they see on YouTube and judged them based on trying to generate clicks for money?”
I’ve seen him give advice in person dozens of times. It’s always sensible.
Yes, he’s trying to get views, just like everyone else on IG, YouTube, X, CNN, Fox…
It’s still truly amazing how dumb people are to either 1- Continue to watch content of someone they hate, or 2- Have only a fraction of exposure and have formed concrete positions on someone with very little context.
I don't really care to measure myself against other men so ill trust your opinion on who is more..legitHe taught at Penn. I worked at Penn. He’s more legit than you. You’re delusional.

We went through this over a 10-15 years ago with Jerry Ward and the start of YouTube fitness personalities. Knowing Jerry (RIP) in real life vs the videos I'll make some generalizations... Big Dave, correct me if I'm totally off base:
1) They are/were well aware of their limitations, especially genetic.
2) Their striving for "greatness" despite these issues/limitations is what made them relatable and easy to watch.
3) While we may judge and laugh at them, they were the ones putting stuff out there... the good and the bad. That is a type of honesty that few of us have.
Mike’s limitation is himself, to a degree. I think if he made some better choices, he’d develop enough muscle and get lean enough to get an 40+ pro card under the right circumstances.
If you watch for good or bad, watching only boosts their views… so they’ll lean into both sides to get the YouTube money.
The more i think about it, this whole "phd" thing is nothing more than a ploy for attention and clicks.I don’t get the hate for the guy.
Most of the info I’ve see him put out (although I haven’t watched a lot and only training stuff ) seems pretty legit…. For beginners at least (which I believe is his target audience) then a lot of it can still be carried over for more advanced guys
I don’t necessarily think his own physique is a reflection of the info he puts out there
I think with some common sense you can figure out who to listen to. There are some common pitfalls, like listening to good athletes/ talented people that proclaim stuff that worked for them as the correct way of doing things (where in fact everything they would have done would have worked). The same goes for coaches that only worked with talented people - or only show the results from their most talented clients. An easy check for that is that if you know that they have dozens of clients but they only ever show one or two guys ... then that suggests something to me).The more i think about it, this whole "phd" thing is nothing more than a ploy for attention and clicks.
You have this charqcrure "dr mike" arguing against 2 other chubby "exercise scientists ' who are equally as immature and cringe who go by "dr wolf " and "dr pak"
These guys know damn well that no one takes them as credible for fitness advice nor do they care. They are just clowning around, all 3 of them, stirring up drama for the clicks. No different than liver king, doucette, lyne norton. Makes you grateful for guys like Justin Harris, John, skip hill who look the part and provide free content that is informative to help people meet their goals.
For a guy who goes by Dr. Mike and constantly cites his own intelligence and expertise, it was funny to see his doctoral thesis exposed.I don’t get the hate for the guy.

I’m not sure about “hate” but I do enjoy seeing braggarts get their comeuppance.
He does have a PhD and that’s part of the problem - his university issued the title despite him turning in such sloppy work. I haven’t really been following it either, just listened to some of the video on my way to work. The long and short of it is - his thesis is full of spelling and typographical errors, impossible statistical conclusions, and improperly-cited references. Not just that, but the topic of his thesis is essentially “stronger athletes perform better than their weaker counterparts”, which is “water = wet” level of insight.I haven’t actually followed it at all I’m guessing he said he had a PHD and it turns out he didn’t? I don’t have a PHD but even I know that’s a bad idea in this day and age
What's a really bad look too is he had that Milo wolf idiot run cover for him, they forged a document claiming it was the "real" document, but the edits were done several days ago and metadata showed it was edited by mikes PR firm. Then he finally admitted the dude who exposed him was right all along. He does have a PhD and that’s part of the problem - his university issued the title despite him turning in such sloppy work.
