was it genetics or juice ????? how was mentzer so sliced and big on this diet.....he said in a interview that all the way up to 1980 MR,O he had carrot cake and coffee for breakfast,,,,mike was worried more about calories staying under 2,000

Breakfast
Two Bran muffins with butter, 1 slice seven-grain toast, two figs and two or three cups of coffee.

After Workout
Milk and egg protein drink and fresh fruit such as pineapple or grapes.

Mid Afternoon Meal
Baked potato and more fresh fruit.

Final Meal
Two chicken breasts, a salad, corn of the cob, and occasionally some ice cream.
 
Genetics and genetic response to gear and training for sure, the diet is crap
 
Guys didn't over-eat back in the day. Though that looks very minimal (too minimal), I think the modern "over stuffing" isnt needed either.
Big guts, shitting all day, etc.
 
Mentzer was reported to use amphetamines, so that could be some of the reason for his conditioning.
 
The diet details written above do not show caloric intake per meal....

~ looks more like a quick overview of Items in a given day (possibly a low calorie protocol for the day/week/goal)

my 2 cents... That said: you should read Arnold’s diet, as well, listen to Ric Drasin (YouTub: Ric’s Corner) commentary on Arnie and other Old School Bodybuilders’ diets.
 
Well, he did regular do meth ED and 300mg of npp EOD according to Larry pollock…so, I can only imagine those workouts were intense
