People truly CAN be that stupid on a regular basis. In my profession as a teacher I see stupidity from across the spectrum; students, parents, law enforcement, and colleagues that I work with directly. It is everywhere. This bust does not surprise me one bit.

I think acadamia is completely different realm, on that I agree with you.

What we're talking about is shady businessmen, I think these guys are going to be okay. From what everyone is saying it sounds like they made more than enough to buy their way out of trouble and their not the only ones tapping into this loophole or whatever it is. I don't know the exact details of what they were doing but I'm a bit surprised by the lack of empathy for them. Don't get me wrong I live my life pretty straight and have seen lots of people get rich from doing the opposite which I don't necessarily respect but as someone who uses gear myself I don't see them as evil people to be chided.

I don't think they are evil people either. And like you I don't necessarily respect them but I also feel that they were ultimately not smart for doing what they did. It may have lasted for a couple of years but in the end they have only themselves to blame for getting caught. Regardless of the field you're in, stupidity is stupidity.

It's a big bust for the cops. Lots of assets seized. We can complain at the end of the day that we're not hurting anyone yet it's still classified the same as heroin and coke. You'd have to be brain dead to not bust them if you're the fed's. They could have seized the gym for a couple of hand to hand transactions. They had way more in this case. The cop who gets promoted is the one who has the most arrests not the one who solves the most complicated case that takes a month. I do think they have been focusing a lot on gear lately. I don't know if it's the money being sent or the fact that it's easier to focus on.
