Mike Sheppard 8 plates a side Deadlift

That was a great lift, and I am taking nothing away from him by saying this.... but, he needs to work on his hip drive and keeping his back curved. You can see he rounds his back a lot, which will lead to serious injury lifting that amount of weight. I can say this without sounding like a 'hater' because ill admit I have the exact same problem. As soon as i get passed 495, I start to round my back and use more hamstring to get the weight up. Im trying to correct this as I want to be deadlifting heavy in 2 years still...

but all in all, thats a great accomplishment to pull that much weight.

Very strong. If he put some legs into that he'd be doing 10 plates a side.

we each deadlift differently.

i have stronger legs and a weaker lower back with short arms so it makes sense for me to start the lift with my legs and finish the lift with a hip thrust.

perhaps the guy in the video has weaker hammies and rather than risk a tear he just uses a shit load of lower back.

regardless he just pulled up 16 plates and a bar. who am i to tell him differently.

You'll have to keep us posted on his progress. Crazy strong, and if he's lifting that kind of weight, it doesn't surprise me that he grew, as you describe it, EASILY, his first year. I'll be interested to see where things go.
 
Wow I would be happy with 6. He should get some weight lifting shoes.

Freaky strength for a guy who is 225.

But damn I cringed watching him pretty much straight leg that.
