A slightly different take on mitochondria

Now I post this for the I wanna just look good people on this board, not the " I wanna be the biggest motherfucker in my gym crowd".
Especially with the usage of some fasting here and there.

That was a good watch, thanks for posting b-boy. (y)

Look forward to watching...I assume related to fgf21?

Interesting watch and he shared some good points. Some I'm very skeptical of however.
  • Quantum tunneling is often misunderstood and exaggerated to support "woo" narratives. There is SOME research supporting some QT like effects in mitochondria, but it's not conclusive. I want more evidence.
  • Water in mitochondria is not "charged". Structures in the mitochondria hold charges, but water can't be changed, only ions can be and they are transient and balance out. This reminds me of oxygenated or hydrogenated water pseudoscience scams.

The periodic fasting is right on. But it is biology, chemistry, and math. Not quantum effects here. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a tiny genome (37 genes). It codes for 13 ETC proteins, some tRNAs, and rRNAs. But far from a separate organism. 99% of mitochondrial protein are encoded by your DNA. And yes, fat oxidation produces water. Roughly 1 liter per kilogram of fat. But that water goes to your bladder, not mitochondria. It's possible mitochondria descend from ancient bacteria. But they’re not independent — they’ve been domesticated. And they're not plotting a coup.

What mitochondria can do is convert caloric energy to ATP via OXPHOS (ETC + ATP synthase) and handle fats/carbs/proteins via shuttles (e.g., carnitine for fats, insulin for sugars, etc). But cannot generate energy from vibrations, light, or structured water. Only substrates + O2. Output is approx 36 ATP/glucose; efficiency drops with age/damage, and definitely no unlimited quantum fuel.
