Modern Day "Pumping Iron"?

Is there a quality, modern day equivalent to Pumping Iron? I just watched PI last night and enjoyed it, as usual. But all the bodybuilding videos I've seen since are just training and diet routines.

there will never be another Pumping Iron.
if there was, it would be too cliche ridden.

"Pumping Iron" is a classic...but no there is nothing real like it out today...just bias documentaries

Try Raising the Bar 1 AND 2. made by a guy on this board. I haven't seen them but they are suppose to be pretty good.

This is very true, there are many who just have boring personalities. They've become so consumed with it they're like watching robots, I'd fall asleep watching 80% of them. Believe it or not, Markus Ruhl is a good one to watch. He's a funny guy with a great personality. Arnold brought charisma to the sport, he was an ambassador. Not too many left like that anymore

some of the musculardevelopment "in the trenches" videos are interesting from a personality standpoint. all the ones with Kai Greene are great... especially the one where palumbo visits the projects.

I agree, but as a videographer/editor I thought it could have benefitted from better editing. They missed out on really showing something powerful, IMO

Bigger, Stronger, Faster the movie is supposed to be the next PI.

There won't be another PI because there won't be another Arnold. Even though there are great scenes that don't include him, the movie is basically about him. (Even though that wasn't the original intention from what I understand) As others have said, the RTB movies are supposed to be great docs on the lifestyle and rigors of bodybuilding. I really need to order copies of both one and two because the clips I've seen look so well done and it's rare to hear anything negative about the films. Also Marcus Ruhl's dvds especially the last two are awesome. He is like two sides of a coin when you compare the goofy, kind, laid back man outside of the gym to the monster he becomes inside it.

butler actually had over 100 hours of footage. pumping iron is just a little of that. they shot alot of stuff with danny padilla, as this was going to be the u.s. mr. universe entry:

Padilla: lightweight
Robby Robinson: middleweight
Ken Waller: heavyweight

mike katz was not officially qualified, but went to pretoria and met with the head of the us team. they decided to run two heavyweights and no lightweight. realy a stupid decision, because Katz was not in peak shape.

of course when you watch the film, you think waller was the one who was the prick

i'd really like to see the padilla footage. we prob wont though, as arnold owns all the rights now.
