I competed in powerlifting a long time ago and I still adhear to those training principals like always ending with your heaviest set but sometimes I like to drop down to a lighter weight and rep out
Nowadays my pyramid looks like this we will use flat barbell bench as an example.

Emty bar 20 reps
135x15
225x12
315x10
365x5
405x2
At this point typicaly I move on to inclines
But I like the feel of dropping back to 275 for as many reps a possible then to 185 as many as possible then on to inclines followed by flys
I would like to hear what you guys have to say
 
I personally like reverse pyramid.

Just makes sense to hit the heaviest of weights when you are fresh.
