Most effective ways to lower cortisol?

Testosterone, Phosphatidyl Serine, Vitamin C and Cissus Quadrangularis if you are looking towards drugs/supplements.

Don't assume you have high cortsiol though so get it tested. There are guys who use loads of pre workouts/stimulants over long periods and their cortisol is fine. I am guilty of the same but so often on here guys add drugs when they didn't ever need to. This is especially common for the likes of estrogen, prolactin and cortisol.

As Stewie stated, to address cortisol, you must address the cause. Remember cortisol is you best friend when you need it, it is also your worst enemy when you do not. You can't think of it as all bad.

Here is what I know:

1. The body is always either building up or breaking down, there is no in between.

2. In a calorie restricted environment, protein conversion to glycogen (gluconeogenesis) is driven by cortisol.

3. You make a LOT of cortisol per day (30mg on average if I remember correctly), without this cortisol you would have a lot of other health issues.

4. Adrenal fatigue is real, and forcing your body to produce too much cortisol for too long will cause it (probably takes months or even years).

5. Stress causes cortisol release.

6. Hunger causes cortisol release.

7. Working out causes cortisol release.

8. Cortisol is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

9. Cortisol makes you feel full of energy and even euphoric.

10. Making too little cortisol is probably as bad as making too much.

11. One of the most "anabolic" (anti-catabolic) properties of T and most AAS is the ability to block the glucocorticoid receptor, to which cortisol binds (thanks Dan).

And hello everyone! I have been lurking a bit lately and will try to get back to some regular posting! :)

Great post, thanks! For the young bucks here, Dan is referring to the late Dan Duchaine, I've read Body Opus multiple times, great reference manual too.

Isn't it just as bad to have low cortisol? Wouldn't the perfect balance be best as the body prefers high cortisol at times?

Definitely. I think it's the same for most things... you want them in the middle of the range. Being on the low side for many things is good but with cortisol you definitely want a balance.

For adrenal fatigue im taking Gaia adrenal support.

Take solid doses of b6 and vitamin C as well.

Prebed i always take schiff melatonin plus, along with Magnesium and Zinc.

Gaia Adrenal Support is good stuff.

Matt Porters (MPA Supps) Cortisolve may be the best priced Phosphatidyl Serine product there is.

Also check out InterPlexus Seriphos.

NOW Super Cortisol Support as well. (contains Relora)

Vitamin C

KSM-66 Ashwagandha

This looks like it has way more in it than cortisolve and it's way cheaper.

Plethora of other health benefits also.

Not standardized for PA but typically 4-7% PA content.

7-8 hours sleep, 600-1200mg NAC before bed one empty stomach and HGH upon waking. Reading a paperback book before bed will help with stress and falling asleep soundly.

Did not know that, thanks!

If I've had a very stressful day, I'll take 50mg of p5p at bedtime. p5p is a mild glucocorticoid receptor antagonist, definitely helps knock the edge off.

I've never heard anything about P5P. Do you notice a true difference in sleep?

What do u do IF ur cortisol is low tho? I recently heard a podcast where the guy described all the issues of dizzyness, lightheadedness etc and explained that low cortisol was the culprit, ive seen people swear by ingesting more salt w water before bed

But what else can one do to raise cortisol?

I would love to run a true test using Humanofort. It would be interesting to see if there were any real world results.

Price is what kills it for me, ive taken it, it was too expensive to keep around the house tbh imo

It seems like chocolate cortisolve has more ingredients in it than peanut butter. Are they diff?

It looks like there is around 9200 or so PA in it. So even 5% would be like 460mg. So 4tbsp daily would be more than a serving of cortisolve and still cheaper right?
