Muscle cramps

Hey bro's

I have been getting really bad muscle cramps. My chest has painful contraction whenever I cross my arms. Looks really freaky. My lats, bicepts and tricepts cramp up to where I can't lift my arms. No cramps with shoulders or legs. I drink gallons of water, take electrolytes before, during and after working out but nothing seems to help. I take buffer pills to keep my body from becoming acidic as my doctor suggested but that does help either. I even tried stretching after my workouts with the same results. Usually the cramping starts about 4 hours after working out. My doctor couldn't find anything wrong with my bloodwork when the cramping first started. Im doing the same amount of work in the gym that i have been doing for the past 15 years and i really dont want to cut back but im running out of options. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

taurine and bcaa's.. r u taking any medication to possible conribute? i kno i cant take claritin for allergies... once levels build after about a month i get a whole bag of less marketed sides u have have to reference in a rx drug book to know they exist.... major whole body muscle cramping in random muscle groups.. EXCESSIVE sweating, tight chested and shortness of breath majority of time... attempting any exercise and the labored breathing magnifies... talk about a total mind fuck not knowing wtf is wrong when normally being in a clean bill of health and I was killing at least a gal of water and gatorade daily trying to counter the sweating and cramping with absolute NO LUCK... I had to the learn the hard way a few years ago when dropped to part time at work for a short block of time for school and lost my medical benefits due to not being full time.. and it was right when allergy season flaired and claritin was the only non drowsy OTC med besides the usual benadryl that makes we loopy and drowsy as shit...

I had the same issue and I researched it and found that Magnesium 400mg a day will stop cramping and has for me. I haven't cramped since I started doing this about 1.5 years ago. My cramping was in my legs the worst my legs looked deformed while it was happening.

"Calcium and magnesium are like opposite sides of a coin. Calcium excites nerves, while magnesium calms them down. Calcium makes muscles contract. Magnesium is necessary for muscles to relax. Calcium is needed for blood clotting, but magnesium keeps the blood flowing freely." - Natural Vitality.com

oh and in more regards to meds too... I noticed when I was taking long term low dose cialis for preWO purposes there came a point that it further aggravated cramping... those are my experiences with a couple different meds I can continue to think of off the top of my head...

also just dont overdo it on magnesium either...lol the poop juice is called milk of magnesia for a reason... the same action of mag relaxing muscles carries over to relaxing your bowels too in too high amounts...

i had this exact same problem....i started taking taurine and it went away.

I tried taurine 1000
Did not work for the charlie horse cramps I get all over on a tren cycle.
just ordered some mag. See how that works.

I could try decreasing calcium and increasing magnesium. I never knew calcium made muscles contract. I take electrolytes but I'm also adding extra calcium so maybe your on to something. Thanks bro for the advice.

I take cialas on a regular basis and I usually take the no2 pre-workout supplements on top of that so there might be a connection.

I finally found something that helps with the cramping after trying just about everything. Here's what I am doing now, just before working out I applied ancient minerals ultra pure magnesium oil to the body part being worked out and again right after I'm done. My cramps are no longer occurring, what I can't figure out is why the chelated magnesium tablets didn't do the same thing. I wonder if my body or something that I'm taking might be taking could be destroying it.

Interesting information regarding the magnesium and cramp reduction, mates!

I read that calcium competes with magnesium absorption, so if you were to take them both at the same time, perhaps the calcium is blocking the magnesium.

Magnesium needs Vit D to assimilate.
Magnesium citrate in water is easily assimilated.
That said,I miss the quinine.

I attributed my extreme muscle cramps to too much vitamin D? I was getting them so bad that I was in extreme pain and being pulled down to the floor by my leg muscles. My lats and chest were cramping. I took a bunch of magnesium but will
Still try and keep my D much lower.
Any one else think it could be too much D, I kinda raised my D twice and this happened for weeks.

How much taurine were you taking?

I need like 5g from powder per day for cramps.

Been said but Magnesium (oxide is shit, at least go for citrate) 400mg a day.

Too much water can deplete your electrolytes and cause cramping...

Taurine Worked great for me about 1,000mgs a day with plenty of water
Vitamin shoppe brand each capsule contains 500mgs :D

I had heard Magnesium oil worked for someone else. I thought they were nuts, but after reading your post, I may have to eat my words. I have cramps frequently due to being on a diruetic. I think I will give this a try and see for myself.
