Muscle Cramps

Last night when i came home from work i stepped up on to my front porch say 4 or 5 inches and my left quad muscle tightend up and contracted so bad that it put my on the ground for around ten minutes , i couldn't put any weight at all on it if i did it felt like it was going to snap. It was on the inside of my leg right above the tear drop muscle . Now i did legs earlier that day , any one have anything like this or comments as to what could have triggered this, as i woke up this mornig my legs are sore from the workout but left leg is really sore from the muscle cramp
 
May need to raise your sodium, potassium, and H2O intake.
 
i will up the sodium and potassium, but water is why up there. thanks for the input.
 
How much water do you drink daily? get some calcium magnesium tabs and take those. But if you are not drinking at least 1.5-2 gallons a day of water you are not drinking enough!

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you are taking clen? If you are, that's the culprit right there. It happens to me everytime I do legs the same day I take clen. Try carrying some pedialite with you in your car during heavy training sessions, this totally helps.

Bro start taking at least 10gm L-Taurine ED. How come nobody else mentioned this, especially if on Clen, even if your not, take some and make sure your upping cal/mag also like Oldefella said.

Sorry for the late get back, my water is up around 1.5 gallons a day will try the calcuim mag tabs. thanks old fella

Have any of you tried Valerian Root? and how effective was it?
 
It would help to know a little more about your diet. How much sodium vs. potassium are you taking in? They work together and if one gets to low then it causes muscle cramps.

For instance, if you are taking in a lot of potassium, then you will need to lower the potassium or increase your sodium.

You need to determine if you are eating a lot of foods high in potassium. Do you salt your foods. Example of foods that are high in potassium: meats & fish, banana, melons, lima beans, milk, oranges, potatoes, spinach, broccoli.

could have just been over fatigued from the leg workout.

I eat atleast one banana a day that usally comes with my protein shake with peanut butter and whipping cream added to it , I also eat fish in the form of tuna or those salmon packed fish from the store , broccoli comes from those steam in bag pouches, thats just some of the food i eat regularly . No i don't add salt to any food while eating some times when cooking but not very much
 
I never suggest adding sodium, because people usually get plenty in the season they add to give foods flavor. I never say it can't happen, but there could be possible that your body isn't getting enough. I would suggest try the L-Taurine before adding sodium.

Muscle cramps can be a symptom of another problem, so it's hard to really say what's causing it. It could be something as simple as an injury to that muscle or muscle fatigue from exercising. Like others mentioned it's a sign of dehydration or even a shift of body fluids. I've read that low blood calcium and magnesium can cause muscle cramps as well as when potassium/sodium get unbalanced. If it isn't any of these things cause it, then it maybe something only a doctor can figure out.
