For those of you who have cats, have you ever come across anything like this before. She is 10 yrs old and strictly indoors cat. We haven't used any poisons lately. She is having "fits". Excessive drooling, breathing out of her mouth and spastic movements. Then she takes off running like she doesn't know what to do or where to go. She vomited a couple a days ago, which has been the only time since this has started. Last night for the first time she lost bowel movements and peed on me & the floor. The vet took blood and her white blood cells were low everything else looked normal including T4. The vet is thinking it is possible blockage maybe a hairball or string/dental floss.

This started Tuesday night. She had the next attack Thursday. Then Saturday... now the fits are happening more closely 3x a day.

This is day 3 on Laxatone. We wanted to make sure that it isn't a hairball that can't move through her system.

She is eating and drinking water... seems more hungry than usual. Litter box activities are normal. She hasn't lost any weight and her hair is still full and shinny just a little dandruff. She's very talkative more than usual and clingy. Wanting me to pet her all the time. Usually she stays upstairs alone. I don't mine her being so friendly and loving. I'm loving it. However, she keep waking us up at night. Constantly. I haven't sleep all week because she comes in at all hours of the night headbutting me and pacing across our heads.

Our next step is x-rays. We going to see how the laxatone does first and just watch her today.

Of course she spent today at the Vet's office so they could observe her and she didn't have any "fits". She had one this morning and I think one while we were at dinner. I went upstairs to check on her and the fur on her butt and thighs were wet. I found where she had an accident near her litter box.

I'm so sorry Sassy...I feel for ya and your little one. It's so tough when your own isn't doing well. Keep us updated on xrays etc.
Sending good thoughts and vibes to you and your little one, Ty:)

Soon as you have the diagnostic contact me.

Sorry to hear your cat isn't feeling well. Hope you find a solution soon.

I sent you a pm.

i love animals; so i am very sorry to hear. sounds like she is a little old, i hope she gets better!!!

This is week 3... she is still having this "fits or attacks". Monday I took her to another vet that only see cats for a second opinion. It's called the "Cat Clinic" and she was so much more comfortable there that vet's offices that take other animals. I left her there all day so they could observe her and they ran feline leukemia & heartworms test and she did not have either one. They did x-rays and there was no blockage or anything abnormal. She did have some inflammation in her lungs, so they are giving her an anti-inflammatory medicine. She's going to give a week too see how she response to the meds.

She is having this "fits" 3 x a day. The other vet thought that it might be some kind of infection. Maybe respiratory so she has been on an antibiotic for a week now.

She acts so normal except that she has an unbelievable appetite lately. She is always hungry after a fit. She's eating all of her food and wants more. She'll even eat the dogs food if we don't watch her. Last night she tore into a new bag of cat food that I haven't had a chance to put into storage container. This was 3 am in the morning, so I get up and she is helping herself to the food. As I'm pouring the food into the container, she is eating out of the container. This ontop of the normal food I gave her plus 1/2 can of wet food. She's becoming a little oinker!

emeric, I've attached a copy of her bloodwork.

My baby...

Here a recent photo of her. She's finally got use to our new place and is coming downstairs more and letting Everlast love on her. She's had a personality change and is a lot more friendly and loving. More like when she was a kitten before our move.

awwwwww

sorry about your baby....how are things now?....thanks for being a good friend btw.....and would to meet you when you come my way;)

Waiting on new test results

We boarded her this weekend while we were out of town. Friday evening the Vet called me to update me on her condition. She had the opportunity to witness one of her "fits" and she said it is a seizure. It wasn't full-blown but it was a very mild one. She consulted with a local specialist and he told her that it could be one of two things... a parasite or brain tumor. :(

We are waiting for the blood test to come back and confirm if it is a parasite that causes neurological problems which is treatable. Kind of weird to be hoping that's what it is because I hate to find out it's a tumor.

OK, after the blood work, I think your cat is anemic, ask the vet to give your cat B 12 injection and try give your cat row liver to increase his iron. I will send you my product free of charge.
