my battle with sleep apnea

.......is over, i'm cured!!!! from some of the worst sleep study results the hospital had ever seen to zero apneas in my last sleep study monday. i had the surgery that is only 60% effective after struggling with a cpap machine for a few months. the surgery was miserable; removal of the adnoids, tonsils, 1cm of flesh around the circumference of my throat and the "burning" back of sinus tissue on both nostrils. no solid food for almost 3 weeks. for those of you struggling with this get it checked out, apnea will lead to high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, death....ex. reggie white.

Thats good to hear. I've known of a few people who said it didn't help them one bit. I cant imagine going through all that (I understand its VERY painful) and not having the problem fixed.

Yep I had tha same thing done several years ago, however my snoring is back but the apnea is long gone.

I had the same procedure 5 years ago and it was a total failure!

SOUNDS AWEFUL.. ILL STICK TO MY MACHINE..LOL;)

Glad you're feeling better Edge. I had sleep apnea and every once in a while (1 or 2 times a year) I still get it. It always seems to be from my blood pressure being to high. I had no idea that it actually raised blood pressure also. So in essence I could get sleep apnea from my pressure being to high which in turn will make it even higher? Damn, that sucks.

i have a sleep study sunday night at the hospital. my snoring has always been awful, but it seems that since i started jino hgh at 2-4 ius for the last six months it has been really bad. crazy dreams too. i hope to get the surgery and be cured. my gfriend will not sleep with me most of the time. it sucks.

I am up to atleast 4am 7 days a week. I bet I need this, although I have no clue what you guys are talking about, cpap? machine? removing tonsils for sleep problems?? I am confused but I should probably know whats being talked about. I have found melatonin/zma/t3 gets me very tired and helps me sleep better.

dave 19 i had what is called obstructuve apnea. my neck/trap region became very thick (20" neck) from bodybuilding along with genetics traits such as a wide tongue base, large tonsils, etc. the increased mass would in a sense collapse my airways. removing things like the tonsils and adnoids create more of an open space for air flow. a cpap machine is basically a breathing machine, you wear an oxygen type mask or one that just covers your nose depending on your specific problems. the cpap forces air into the airways forcing them to stay open. being 31 i along with my dr. felt sleeping on a machine for the rest of my life that the surgery would be worth the chance and we would play the odds. if your having dreams your getting stage 4 sleep (deep REM) i was getting this at all, i never dreamed before because is would stop breathing so often that it would bring my back to a stage 2 or 3 sleep, you never actually wake up but you can sleep a full 8 hours and if you never get enough stage 4 you always feel tired and it becomes a cumulative thing creating serious health consequences.

Never been diagnosed, but I believe I suffer from this.

So if you never remember your dreams you arent having stage 4 sleep? I am tired practically all the time, even the few times when im lucky enough to get 8 hours of sleep. Could this be because of the lack of stage 4, or can't you say that just on the basis of dreams or no dreams?

could be any number of things, thyroid is a common issue..

not having dreams is a sign your not going into stage 4 sleep. it wasnt that i did not remember my dreams......i wasnt having them at all as i wasnt getting into REM

Lost a good friend on Monday. We suspect sleep apnea was the cause. Only 35 but had been having sleep related problems for a while. If you suspect you have this condition....get checked out please.

Not that kind of tired, not lack of energy to do stuff , but the lack of energy to do stuff 100%. Even when I get 8 hours of "sleep" i have to pour down cup after cup of coffe just to stay awake at school.
My thyroid functions well according to my latest bloodsanalysis, as does everything else, so i dont think thats it.

I dont know if i am having them or not, i certainly don't remember any dreams. Perhaps once a month i can wake up and remember a dream. I also can go to sleep for 3-4 hours, wake up in the middle of the night to take a leak:) and then i have a feeling i havent even fallen a sleep at all, like i have just been laying there awake for a long while. Did you experience this when you had sleep apnea?

Sorry to hear about your friend Szona. Hope his family are doing well. Didnt realize sleep problems could be that serious.

i was literally sleeping 8-10 hours per night and was exhausted, falling asleep at the wheel and at work. i never felt like doing anything socially or being social at all. looking back i was living in such a fog for so long that i thought it was normal and that i just requered more sleep because of how intense i was in the gym and my size. one of the dr's said if my condition would have gone untreated i would have a stroke or heart attack by my 40's. its a silent killer and we as bodybuilders are at risk. don youngblood had sleep apnea and it has been said this one reasons of his death and dont forget reggie white. i now only need 6-8 hours and feel like a different person, more outgoing. i am amazed i made gains at all in size as i'm sure this had a huge effect on my recovery and we all know are bodies rebuild themselves while sleeping, release gh, etc
