I had a complete metabolic panel and a lipid panel and actually only two of the tests were high and one was low. The two tests that were high were the AST and the ALT levels. The AST was only slightly above normal range (59) but the ALT was SKY HIGH (143). The weird part is that my total Bilirubin (0.3) and serum Albumin (3.8) were both excellent. What is the deal with this?

The low test range was was my HDL (18) although my total cholesterol (131), LDL (99) and Triglycerides (100) were in excellent range. Again, what is the deal with this?

All other tests were normal including blood sugar and kidney functions which were both excellent. How can I get my liver values back into range the fastest? and is the low HDL a major cause for concern even though the other lipid values were in excellent range?

I am 35 5'8" 210 pounds with 14% bodyfat. I am currently using an oral "designer" steroid due to my current "probationary" status.

You on superdrol? Orals? Get some synthergine ASAP.

This is typical of someone who uses an oral steroid.
Very low hdl,high alt.
It shows an inflammed liver and high cardiovascular stress.
Any chance you have a fatty liver ?
Anyway,i suggest you stopped the superdrol unless you want these results to remain the same or get worse.A liver protectant should always be a part of your regimen when you take orals.
Start milk thistle, ala and nac right away.

Yes, Phil I am currently taking Superdrol. No choice right now although I am going to switch up to Epistane as it is easier on the liver and lipids.

I ordered Synthergine on Sunday April 15th and it still has not came in yet. How long does shipping normally take? How much should I use?

yeah, as I told Phil I am am still waiting for my Synthergine to come in the mail. I ordered it last Sunday.

Hopefully if I switch to Epistane and start the Synthergine my liver enzymes will come down.

do whatever the doc says ....low HDL is common with all juicers, and liver enzymes are not sky high , but it's a good idea to stop the orals and they should be back to normal......

So your saying that my liver enzyme levels are "normal" for an orals user? I feel better to know that they will come back to normal when I am done but I am still going to start the Synthergine immediately.

NORMAL??

NO WAY IN HELL IS THAT NORMAL. YOU NEED FURTHER TESTING THAN AST AND ALT. YOU COULD HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES THAT EVEN SYNTHERGINE CANT HELP. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

Get yourself a good liver protectant for the AST and ALT and don't work out for at least 3 days b4 getting bloodwork done next time. Intense lifting can and will elevate values. As far as the cholesterol, your HDL is TERRIBLE. You need to be taking in a lot of healthy fats in your diet (start taking fish oil...3-5 caps per day) and plenty of olive oil. I would also start taking 500mg of niacin per day, that should help.

High ast shows whole body inflammation and could go high from training, injury or sickness.
High alt is liver specific. It shows inflammation of the liver itself.

Although i tend to disagree and think that your liver values for on-cycle with an oral is pretty much normal,it's not ok to live with an inflammed liver. It means your whole metabolism (the liver's task) is wrecked and working against and not for you.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to stop the oral and stay with supplements until you can programme a good cycle with the protectants too or until you can find and use injectables.
It might not be the same result-wise,but then again you won't be walking around with the liver of an alcoholic.

Wow, you blew me out of the water! I just got mine done as well and showed some high and low numbers.

My alt was 86 and ast 49. LDL was 96 and hdl was 33. This was after a workout and eating a stromboli! I'm going for another test with a fast next week. I was about in this same boat after coming off superdrol. I wish I could get my HDL up a little. I just got nac and am going to be running nac, fish oil and milk thistle.

I assume you ordered Air Mail. You should have ordered ECI - you would have had it in 2 or 3 days.
With Air Mail you should have it next week.

Use 1ml per 55lbs of bodyweight, every day.

superdrol will destroy your good cholesterol. my partner was given a blood test it came back at "3". he was using superdrol at 30mg for 5 weeks! the doc told him she had never seen a result that low in her life. she told him he was a walking cornary.

On the other hand i told him to take some high doses of Red yeast rice and fish oil. A couple weeks later his levels rose to above twenty. of course he stopped taking the drol.

Last time I checked my HDL was 30+ and my LDL was 60 :D Was using nothing but policosanol for months.

My doctor told me that due to my total cholesterol being only 130 It was not so important to look at my HDL/LDL levels. He stated that HDL/LDL becomes important if your total is over 200. So I am really not worried about my cholesterol right now.

I did a little reasearch and found the following excerpts:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“There are few guarantees in life, but having a blood cholesterol level of less than 150 is probably the closest you can get to a guarantee that you will not be troubled with heart disease. One of the more interesting findings from the Framingham Heart Study is that no one in the history of the study has ever had a heart attack whose blood cholesterol was less than 150. If you can get your cholesterol under 150 you don’t even have to concern yourself with the further breakdown of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cholesterol analysis.” Kitty Gurkin Rosati, M.S., R.D., L.D.N. Author of Heal Your Heart

"Heart disease is virtually unknown in regions where cholesterol is under 150." Colin Campbell

DR. ORNISH writes that a person is probably already eating an adequate diet to protect from heart disease if the following conditions are met: if a person's cholesterol level is under 150 and s/he is not taking cholesterol-lowering medication, or if one's ratio of total cholesterol to HDL (good cholesterol) is less than 3.0. (He chose 150 as the cut-off point based on forty years of results from the renowned Framingham Heart Study, in which no participant has had a heart attack with a cholesterol level that remained consistently under 150. He also claims that these cholesterol levels are maintained in countries where heart disease is low.)

“We’ve never had a heart attack in Framingham in 35 years in anyone who had a cholesterol level under 150...Three-quarters of the people who live on the face of this Earth never have a heart attack. They live in Asia, Africa, and South America, and their cholesterols are all around 150.” Dr. William Castelli, Medical Director of the Framingham Cardiovascular Institute in Massachusetts; Harvard Medical School

"Regularly maintaining a cholesterol level of less than 150 mg/dl makes one practically heart attack proof and insures against further progression of the disease." Caldwell Esselstyn

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn has replicated Dr. Ornish’s findings, taking patients who were suffering from clogged arteries and making them “heart attack proof” (to quote Dr. Esselstyn in the August 1999 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology) by getting their cholesterol levels down below 150.
Veganism In A Nutshell, http://www.goveg.com/veganism_health.asp

"A reading below 150 gives the best assurance of protection against heart-related problems. A very important thing to note is that for every decrease
of one percent in the cholesterol level, there is a 2% decrease in the risk of heart attack." Neal Bernard, PCRM

"Heart disease is almost non-existent in places where blood cholesterol is very low. If your cholesterol is around 160 mg/dl or less, your risk of heart disease is virtually zero." Dr. Terry Shintani, Hawaii Diet, Pocket Books, New York, New York, 1999, p. 68-9.

"Only a cholesterol level below 150 is satisfactory." Joel Fuhrman

Many, such as the staff of Prevention magazine, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. John McDougall, Robert Kowalski, and the authors of The Stanford Life Plan For a Healthy Heart agree with Dr. Shintani and all suggest a cholesterol level of 150-160 or lower. www.heartriskevaluations.com/CholesterolPrimer.htm

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically I will just try to get my liver in check. As soon as my Synthergine gets here I will immediately be doing 4 ml per day (2 ml when I wake up and 2 more before bed). I also ordered a 2nd bottle today so that I can continue through PCT.

If the Synthergine does not work then I have seen my last "oral" cycle.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Yes , you should give up orals for a good while. Synthergine it may help you, helped me when I had my liver twice the normal size few years ago. But you shouldn't rely just on it . Go and see a good specialist and keep the liver values in check from now on.

Jay any word yet from your doc as to getting your ast and alt lower???

If it is Superdrol STOP!! My HDL dropped to 9 and my doc just about shi*!!!

Mike

I just saw this post for the first time and I cringed when he said his HDL was that low even though I have seen it much lower. I have a client currently that has an HDL of 4. That's right FOUR.

Orals in the offseason just aren't a good idea, in my opinion. There are so many other compounds that are safer. Orals almost always either wreck your cholesterol levels and raise blood pressure considerably. I always like the term "front load". Here is a better idea: Just be a little bit PATIENT and let the damned gear kick in after few weeks. The trade off for being impatient (in the case of front loading) just doesn't seem to be a good idea.

I would wonder what the diet looked like while these values were so low and what the diet looked like for the prior couple months.

Also, I don't think that the HDL/LDL ratio comment made by your Doctor is correct. I am not questioning the doctor as much as I am asking if you are sure that you heard his statements correctly. I have heard from my Doctor that low HDL may well have more on an impact on heart disease than high LDL.

If your on sdrol, thats totally normal for liver values to be elevated. Normal doesnt mean GOOD, just means typical for a superdrol user. Low HDL is also very common amongst most AAS users. Again, normal still not being good. The real sign is when your off everything. Get tested then. In the mean time, take liver protectants, and get that hdl up a bit. Try 1000mg flush free niacin, red rice yeast extract, lots of healthy fats,etc....
