My mother has been diagnosed with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease)...can anyone help

Hey everyone...
its unfortunate for me to bring this news, my mother has been diagnosed with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and the doctors say she is in need of a transplant. she has been scheduled for dialysis 3 times a week, Now my question is I am a believer in nutraceutical medicine I have been thinking is there anything out there that can SLOW the growth of these cysts, maybe even kill and rejuivinate the kidneys.... anything to give my mother more time... because more time = Better chances of finding a donor for her. if you guys can share any information I would really appreciate it, its tough to stay strong but i know there is something out there, there has to be ive yet to find a condition that couldnt be slowed altered or derailed from causing harm. Ill will be spending all my time researching this disease. if anyone has some useful info stuff she could take to hopefully slow the process and alieviate some of the stress on the kidneys.
any help much appreciated from the bottom of my heart.

Primary prevention of progression would be to ensure that she follows the dietary restrictions placed on her by her nephrologist (e.g., low protein diet, increased water consumption, avoidance of alcohol and caffeine). In addition to controlling her renal function, it is important that her blood pressure be closely monitored and controlled.

Are you going to consider genetic testing to determine if you are also a carrier? Many family members of patients with PKD opt for genetic testing to determine if they carry the autosomal dominant form of the disease.

If you do identify any promising nutraceuticals that appear to slow cyst progression, please share the information with the group. Best wishes to you and your mother during this difficult time.

thank you for the kind words, i am still on the search to see if I can come up with anything, Yes genetic testing will be in order. bump to see if anyone has any information. Thank you both for the kind words and the input it really means a lot!

I wish her the best, I can't help at all. Probably the best thing is to find the best nephrologist you can, and take it from there.
