Well guys thought I was gonna have to put another loving member down, if you remember about 6 wks or so I had to put down my 10 yr old boxer...My 10 yr old rottweiler (Makita) has not been herself for the last 2 wks, but about a wk ago she slowly stopped eating, just a little bit here and there. Sunday she she stopped eating all together, I usually put an egg in her food and she would not even eat that and she also started to limp/drag her back legs. When I got home monday after the gym things started looking bad, she was really dragging her back legs, she could barely stand up, tuesday got even worse, she could not stand up, tried helping her up but she would just fall down so my wife and I talked about it throughout the night and we decided to put here down the next morning. When I woke up and went outside to say my last goodbye (I just could not take her in) I said to myself this is not right we are cutting her life short so I woke my wife up and told her to let the Dr. take a look at here and let her decide, here is the good part about this, she was diagnosed with diabetes, her sugar was 864 and her kidneys shut down, that is why she could not walk, she also went from 120lbs to 86lbs. Dr. put her on an IV and gave her an insulin shot and said she has a real good chance of recovering from this with no side affects. The Dr. said if we would have waited a couple more days she would have died. She will spend the next 2 days at the vet and sometime friday she will come home, the bad thing is she will get a daily dose of insulin. Really don't know what made me change my mind about putting her down but I am really glad we did not go through with it, I will be so happy to pick her up Friday and bring her back where she belongs.
