Need feedback on quality of newer (2004-2006)Jeep Wranglers

how do the motors hold up as well as the rest of it.. i see good off road stuff and loud breezy and stuff liek that but are they worth teh money if you are doing normal everyday driving?

I've seriously decided NEVER to by another Chrysler vehicle EVER again. I have a 2000 Grand Jerokee that is FALLING apart. I just got something in the mail asking if I wanted to be part of a class action suit against them for their CRAPPY brake rotors(which I have replaced yearly). They used some crap cast iron. My AC went out this year(first the evaporator in the dash and now the compressor). Now, my stupid tail lights don't even come on when the lights are on. No brake lights, tail lights, or anything. Put the car in reverse and everything comes on. I'm so pissed about this. Oh yeah, and my transmission went out. Talked to my friend who bought a Chrysler 300 and his electrical is having problems too. I guess all cars have problems, but mine only has 120k miles and I'm about to drive that stupid piece of shit off into the lake! Its a real shame too b/c I've been eyeing a 3/4 ton Diesel Dodge extended cab for towing my race car, but I'm too afraid to buy another Chrysler.
ARGH!!!!

My next vehicle will be a Toyota.

I don't know about the Wrangler, but I love the Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited Edition!!! Best damn vehicle I've very owned!!!

My lifting partner has one and it's cool. We've both owned Jeeps for 18 yrs and these are the most car-like. You can't beat an in-line fuel injected 6 for power. I recommend a K&N air cleaner, header and flowmaster muffler as soon as you buy it to add power and mileage. The suspensions are outstanding compared to the old leaf spring set-ups. The heaters are light yrs ahead of the 74, 77, 79, 84, 90 and 94 we've owned. The new hardtop adds to the pussy factor, too. They have rear wipers and defrosters. Although you'll like the articulation of the quadracoil suspension, I like my V8 Chevy Wrangler caveman Jeep. Good Luck.

OOOOP, forgot the cons. There is no way in hell I'd own a Jeep for primary transportation in snow country. The wheelbase is way too short and IF you lose control----thats your ass. You are at the mercy of gravity, momentum and inertia. However, if you're in California, go get one and lift it and get 35's. Don't forget the 1000 watt stereo............

American vehicles suck..........

If it is american made it will not last nor will it have any resale value..... . Save your money and buy german or if you want to take the chance go with land rover. The problem is American made is cheap/inexpensive and not everybody has the wallet to afford QUALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pick an American car and a foreign in the same price range. If you're talking cheap I'd go KIA. If you're talking high end, US is as good as any in a price range.

just looking at it for primary use not for rock climbing or muddin' or snow skating down the highway... just a point a to point b vehicle... sound sliek it is a good car but a bit over priced for what you get and pay for.. thanks mate

GAY CAR! The jeep wrangler screams homosexuality.

Just bought the 2007 wrangler

I just bought the new 4-door jeep wrangler 2007 model. Absolutely love it. the new design is unique because the vehicle is very roomy inside. It's actually as big as the Grand Jeep Cherokee (what I had before). The hard top is the way to go because the top comes off in 3 hard panels and they are simple to snap on and off. I can have them off and back on within a minute. This jeep looks tuff. Check it out on their web-page.

I know what ya mean. Jim's Wrangler is cool but comes off as femme to me. Mine is lifted with 33's and a aluminum headed 350 with 400 horse. Nothing femme about mine. Hostile redneck for sure but no femme. I got a dealand finished aproject. No Jeep is worth what they go for new. I'd get a CJ7 with a Chevy transplant already done and an automatic trans. 33" tires are about practical, 35 is max before it gets dangerous. A lifted V8 CJ& can be found for $4500, $7500 will get you real cool.

Sounds like you made yours straight then. But yea me and my buddies usally make fun of guys who ride in jeeps since I tend to see alot of rainbow bumperstickers on them.

i have a 2004 sahara...

33" bf's, 3 inch lift...

man's jeep...

anyway, i wouldnt use one again as a daily commuter. my lease comes up in the spring and i will be buying a car, preferably a infinity g35 coupe as my daily.

that being said i will always own a jeep. i have just purchased a 88 yj with a spring over axle lift and the 350 motor tranny conversion w/ 35's. this will be my summer jeep. no rain. no snow, just mud.

the 2004 is hard on fuel, although as said before the coil suspension is a big inprovement over the leaf. still rides rough though. rougher than most trucks.

underpowdered as well, especially when pulling 33's. and kind of incline or strong head-on wind finds you looking for 4th gear.

alot of road noise as well. mine has just also began sporting a crack in the manifold, a falling not uncommon to the tj.

for the price, since you already have a jeep and want a comuter, i'd recommend you take a look at the new toyota fj cruiser. very practical. same platform as the 4 runner i believe and same reliable, indestructable block. 4wd. TONNES of space. washable cargo and passenger area. just a really practical truck all round.

rough country makes a 3 and 6" suspension life for them as well.

i love jeeps and will always own one, but would not buy a new one again for what you pay there are better trucks, suv's out there.

hope this helps.

My current car is a toyota, after 10 years it is still running strong.
my folks owned a chrysler and they had to replace the motor....twice.
I will never by American until they can last as long, have as much HP/cyclinder (most stock 4 cyl cars can outrun many american stock 6cyl) and still have better gas mileage.
I await the flames....loving cars is like a religion, no one thinks they are wrong despite the obvious.

it is for the wife not for me mates .. get a good used one with low miles and then it is worth it if i read everyone correctly... thank you

Hey "mate" I hear Nissan Exterra's are a quality vehicle maybe check into getting yourself one of those.
