So I did the diet/supps/training regimen for my friend who is competing in 20 days. The guy started the diet at 210 lbs, and is currently 185 in the am, 190 by the end of the day. He's dieting his ass off for this show and looks great at this point, minus just a little bit of fluid left. He's starting to dry up pretty good since I have him eating mostly asparagus for his greens right now. I also had him start doing just a little dandelion root supplement to try and get some of the fluid off of him a little earlier, but nothing too dramatic yet. He is doing a zero carb day once every 3-4 days. The other days he is doing 50 grams, and 80-100 grams on his higher carb day. Protien is very high now, upwards of 400 grams/day. I have him doing about 100 grams of fat on his zero carb day, and roughly 50 grams on his moderate carb days. He's killing cardio right now, usually 2 hours/day. I also have him waking up every other night out of a dead sleep and doing a 40 minute session around 2am, then another upon rising before breakfast. The guy is just stuck, seems like no matter what he does he cannot get any more off. so I tried to come up with some tactics for him to try to get within that middle weight ball park weight. I told him to drop all of the egg whites and replace w/ boiled chicken or low sodium tuna for breakfast. I also told him to ditch the natural peanut butter and just try flax oil for his fats for the next 3 days or so. I also am drilling it into his head to stop training so heavy right now. Believe it or not the guy can still rep out 315 for close to 8 reps even on his carb deficit. His quads are starting to zipper up, and slight trace of striations in the glutes. The dude definitely does not look like a middleweight, and I cannot wait to see peoples reactions when he comes out there and destroys everyone. It's a real eye opener because I'm currently 235lbs w/ still visible abs, the guy almost looks my size but shorter(only 5'5") so at 176 he'll be the freak of his division. Anyways, not to make this thing too long, but that's what I'm having him do to try and get a few more lbs off him. The final 5 days he will be doing aldactones and a dyazide on Fri. I figure he'll lose a good 8 lbs or so, I'd just feel more comfortable with it if he was sitting around 180 lbs morning time before the final 4-5 days of diuretics. Probably not doing much of a carb up with him. For one, he probably wont need it as he still NEVER looks flat, and we dont want him to push past 176 lbs during weigh ins. Maybe just WEd ,Thurs, Fri, at around 100 grams or so, nothing crazy. Any suggestions guys?
