A couple of employees got into an argument. One guy took a swing and then pulled a knife out on the other guy. It got broke up before anyone was injured, and needless to say the guy got fired. Would you believe he had the nerve to ask the office mgr if he'll be able to draw unemployment.

I'm just wondering is it just this town I live in, because this is not the first time someone has done something like this here... or is work place violence just happening more often?

I've been lucky I guess, because no where else I've worked had this problem.

Then I'm online on the AJC's site and see this... that's crazy. Why didn't he just fire them or lay them off?

Car Dealer Accused of Killing 2 Workers
By GIOVANNA DELL'ORTO
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA — A finacially strapped owner of a car dealership told authorities he was under stress when he killed two employees because they kept asking for pay raises, police said Tuesday.

Rolandas Milinavicius was charged in the shooting deaths of Inga Contreras, 25, and Martynas Simokaitis, 28. All three are from the eastern European nation of Lithuania but had been living in Atlanta, authorities said.

Milinavicius, who was having financial problems, told police he shot the two Thursday after they kept asking for more pay, said police in East Point, which is just outside Atlanta.

Milinavicius, 38, turned himself in two days after the shootings and confessed to the killings, telling them he was under a lot of stress, East Point police Capt. Russell Popham said.

"As I understand, the employees were not really happy about the pay, and they had questioned him about it over the course of time," Popham said. "That morning he said he just snapped."

At a jailhouse hearing Tuesday, Milinavicius listened through an interpreter as the charges were read against him. He faces two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and he was denied bond.

Milinavicius' attorney, public defender Elizabeth Markowitz, did not speak in court. She did not return a call for comment.

Milinavicius, who had been living in Alpharetta, started RM Auto International two years ago, hoping to meet the demand for American cars in Lithuania. He began shipping cars and later hired the two victims as his only employees.

Nobody was at the car dealership Tuesday afternoon. Smashed-up cars with broken windshields and crumpled hoods were scattered around the back of the building.

Lisa Maidel, whose management business is two doors done from Milinavicius' dealership in a strip mall, said Milinavicius' wife came pounding on their door looking for help Thursday afternoon.

Maidel called 911, and the woman kept asking in broken English if her husband who was hurt, saying she had seen legs on the floor when she came to the dealership to visit her husband, Maidel said.

"We just saw the fear and terror in her eyes," Maidel said. "Every time she tried to describe it, she would just freeze up and hyperventilate."

Contreras and Simokaitis were cremated and an informal memorial service was held at Simokaitis' cousin's apartment over the weekend. The remains were to be flown to Lithuania on Tuesday.

"It doesn't make any sense," the cousin, Jaunius Simokaitis, of Fayetteville, said Monday. "If he was having money problems, these two would have been the ones to help him get out of debt. They would have helped him make that money."

Where do you work,Sing Sing?

violence in an unpredictable world....

Think about it....
Bruce Willis in Die Hard, Dirty Harry, Arnold in everything he's ever done.
We live in a world that glorifies violence. We are a take no shit, kick ass and take names civilization. We clawed our way to the top of the food chain and we are killing each other in record numbers. Over meaningless crap.
Hip-hop and rap glorify the driveby shooting. Gangsta' wannabes and
real gangsta's too, they all get the self esteem and respect from not taking any crap.
What would you kill for?
What would you not kill for?
These are the times we live in....

Just so you know

It is not confined to any one geographical area: True story here

IN a City just north of me there is a big gym. One day a guy was working out as usual. He was going through his chest training and was on the bench press. he was doing reps with 315 and in the middle of his reps a woman comes running into the gym with a butcher knife in her hand. Runs over to the guy doing bench press and before anyone realizes what's going on proceeds to stab this guy in the groin and abdomen aroung ten times before anyone can grab her and get the knife away from her. The story goes she found out he was cheating on her and she came in for revenge. She got ten years for attempted murder, he got his sex life ruined forever and nearly died as a result of his injuries. So crazy is everywhere not just where you live. She did this in full view of evreyone in the gym in the middle of the day!!

I still get pains everytime I think of this horror story.

More than likely steriod induced psychosis

I also believe a factor is just how "work" has changed in today's world. People are working more hours then they have, the cost of living has also gone up, the number of employees at a lot of businesses is down, people are doing the job of 2-3 people instead of one, this causes a lot of angry people at work, etc. I'm guessing all this also plays a role in how people may feel towards their employer, co-workers,etc and may result in violent acts being commited.

Sad state we're in. Parents don't monitor their kids, kids learn from actors on tv. That combined with the desperation of everyday life and those mimicking what they see the actors doing and you get this 'culture'. To an extent I don't think media is to blame, then again if it wasn't so popular right now maybe this wouldn't be the case.

Sassy, exercise you're rights. CCW... All women should carry this day in age. Damned if I can get my mom to jump on the wagon though...

If everyone would carry, no one would act a fool.

Everybody should carry. It would make the world a whole lot safer. I never leave home without it... Because you just never know who is going to act like a fool. There was a guy recently at Target that just opened fire on shoppers. I have 3 daughters so I am always on alert for idiots....
